It’s that time of year again when high school students will soon be graduating. Many high school students are looking forward to moving on and becoming adults. Some will be heading off to college, others will be heading off to work, and some may not know what they want to do. Most of the graduates know one thing for sure and that’s the fact that they want a graduation party. Many teenagers feel that there is some sort of entitlement when it comes to getting gift for their twelve years of hard work. So what do you get for the high school grad these days. Well why not think outside the box with a few unique ideas listed below.
1. Share your wisdom
It can be hard to get a soon to be high school graduate to listen to any wisdom that you want to share. If however you pack it as a gift in a unique way they may be more inclined to listen. You can write your words of wisdom on individual scrolls, which you can make yourself. Use small pieces of paper cut into small squares, write your words of wisdom and roll up the pieces of paper, inside each scroll you can include some rolled up money in each one. This is just a little incentive to keep them going through all of the scroll’s. Make enough scrolls to fit inside of a small gift box. Each scroll can have the money rolled up inside. Tie the box with some ribbon, and you have an amazing gift.
2. College survival kit gift basket
If your child has decided to head off to college why not make them a college survival kit gift basket. This is going to be a really large basket, so make sure you have enough ribbon. Inside the basket you will want to put everything that your teen will need for those college emergencies. For example you can include the typical stuff like notebooks, and pencils, but why not get more creative than that. You can also include items like an envelope that includes an emergency gift card. A gift card that can be used for emergencies only will usually come in handy within the first days of being at college. You may also want to include a recipe book with easy budget friendly meals, that your college student can make themselves. Also make sure to include an emergency sewing kit, first aid kit, and a laundry bag.
3. Personalized jewelry
Giving your graduate some personalized jewelry is a great gift to help them remember the accomplishments they have made in their life. This gift is especially perfect if the graduate happens to be a girl. You can her some jewelry that signifies the transition from teenager to young woman. Something that can be passed on perhaps to her own daughter one day.
4. Paid vacation with friends
This is not a gift that parents typically give to their high school graduate but it can be a good one. Of course a vacation with friends does not have to mean an unsupervised vacation. However once your teenager has graduated high school it really is time to start treating them like adults. You can book a vacation in a location that they have always wanted to go and give them the option of taking along a few friends. They and their friends can share a hotel room and you can have the room close by. This way you are still giving them some independence while still making sure they are not out of control. The main idea is to give them their first taste of being responsible, especially since some will be heading off to college.
5. Gas Card
Last but not least is the Gas card. Now that your teenager has graduated, if they have not done so already they will have to get at least a part time job. If they already have a car why not make a gift of a gas card. Gas prices can get pretty high during certain times of the year, and depending on where you live.
