If someone close to you is expecting a bundle of joy, you’ll want to throw them a wonderful celebration. Baby showers are a great way to welcome and celebrate the new arrival. With the myriad of characters that Disney has to offer, a Disney-themed baby shower will make your celebration easy, fun and magical. Here are three great Disney themes you can do for your next baby shower:
Winnie the Pooh Theme
Winnie the Pooh is a great neutral theme, as it works for both baby boy and girl. Pooh and all of his wonderful animal friends provide many food and decorating opportunities. With a little creativity, you can easily cook up an entire menu based on simple finger food combined with clever Pooh-inspired names such as “Piglet in a blanket,” “Pooh-nut butter sandwiches” and “Honey dew punch.” Anchor your menu with a grand beehive-shaped cake. To round off your theme, use woodsy decorations in rustic colors of green and brown to mimic the Hundred Acre Wood.
Disney Princess Theme
If your loved one is expecting a baby girl, what better way to celebrate than with a Disney princess theme? There are so many Disney princesses to choose from — Belle, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, Snow White, Cinderella and Rapunzel — you’ll surely be able find a princess to match the mommy-to-be’s style and personality. Invite your guests to the party with a fancy scroll invitation — something like this – or you could opt for something more Disney, like these invites. An elegant and simple idea for decorations is to set up a white tent outside and hang long flowing drapes on the walls and chairs. Pink, purple and gold make good royal colors. The centerpiece of the shower can be a cake in the shape of a princess castle. Serve sophisticated canapés, crostini and other gourmet food to convey the feeling of a stately ball. As a memento of the shower, enlarge the baby’s ultrasound, frame it with white matting, entitled it “Wish upon a Star” and then have each guest write their wish for the royal mommy and baby.
Mickey Mouse Theme
The face of Disney is most certainly that of Mickey Mouse. Another unisex party, there are lots of Mickey Mouse party ideas. Because Mickey themed decorations are so readily available at local stores, there is a temptation to overdo the theme. If you’re not careful, your party could very quickly be filled with nothing but mouse ears. A safe way to give your party a Mickey vibe without overdoing it is to simply use the colors black, white and red. That goes for both food and decorations. For a more elegant shower, use more black color especially for dishes and tablecloths. If you want a more festive and casual feel, emphasize more of the white and red. Then add only a few touches of Mickey — it could be something as simple as Mickey-themed napkins or cupcake wrappers — to tie the décor together.
