Anyone can carve a pumpkin, hang black curtains, make foods with a Halloween theme, and otherwise prepare for a night of partying. But it’s the small details that prove you’re the hostess with the talent. And, if you’re going to serve cubed cheese, small pickles, olives, grapes, or similar things, you’re going to need picks. Not any picks will do for a talented hostess, though; you’ll need something really spectacular. And that’s what you’ll have when you make Halloween food picks. They’re spooky but cute at the same time.
Some people serve gross-looking foods at their Halloween parties because they’re disturbing. But you don’t have to gross the guests out in order to create a Halloween food table. Instead of making the foods really eerie, just make the picks spooky. Spider, jack-o-lantern, bat, and other picks, will create the Halloween look, without sending your guests running from the food.
Make all of the picks look exactly alike, such as all bats, or make different ones. Make the picks just as accents on tops of cupcakes or make them to hold appetizers. They’re so simple to do that you’ll probably get carried away and make way more than you need. If so, send the guests home with some.
Shop for three-inch food picks, and turn them into Halloween picks. When you shop locally or online for bugs or other Halloween novelties you’ll find that you can make dozens of different food picks. Buy flat pumpkins, plastic spiders, plastic bats, fake candy corn, or other small, Halloween decorations. Simply glue the spiders or other characters onto the picks to create the look that you want for the Halloween party.
Make appetizers, such as cubes of meat and cheese, and insert a creepy pick into each one. Or, lay the picks on a table and let guests use them for picking up cubed fruits, tiny tomatoes, grape eyeballs, and other foods. The food picks also look great on cupcakes.
Lots of people spend a whole lot of time creating repulsive foods for Halloween and you can if you want. But the spooky picks let you finish getting ready for the party, help you to create fun accents for the food table, and give the guests ways to pick up assorted foods. But they don’t absolutely have to be made from purchased, toy bugs and such. You can make other nice picks by printing out or drawing images on paper. Cut circles, put a pick between two of them, and you’re ready to open the door to your Halloween party friends.
