Beyoncé (Knowles) has admitted to channeling alter ego Sasha Fierce, whom she said she created in an effort “to separate her own shy personality from her stage persona and give herself the courage to be free and sexy while performing” in her heated on-stage performances, according to an MTV interview.
The MTV article noted Beyoncé “even went so far as to name-check the alter-ego on her last album, I Am … Sasha Fierce.” And although Beyoncé claims to have “killed” her alter ego in 2010 because “[she’s] now able to merge the two,” we still have to wonder: Has Beyoncé gotten too hot for the stage? Or is Sasha still alive, and more fierce than ever?
Even though Beyoncé has taken them in stride, there have been two headline-grabbing incidences involving overzealous fans getting physical with the electrifying Grammy-winning pop star and actress during her concerts. And they may be serious indications that her “bootylicious” curves, revealing costumes and highly charged, seductive dance moves are arousing strong responses from some of the men in her international audiences.
In the most recent occurrence , an excited male concertgoer snatched the breakout star of girl group Destiny’s Child from the stage while she was performing in Brazil. Prior to that incident she was smacked on her backside courtesy of a fan, who’d been riled up in Copenhagen.
Elicits Surprising Public Reaction
We’ve seen the effect her fiercely passionate, provocative persona has on the opposite sex. Who can forget the infamous 2009 live Video Music Awards moment when rapper Kanye West interrupted singer Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech to acknowledge that he thought Knowles’ popular Single Ladies video, was “one of the best of all time.”

If B eyoncé can provoke that kind of extreme reaction from a fellow industry peer, what level of emotion might she evoke in an average star-struck, non-celebrity fan enamored with her? With tour dates scheduled to last through the end of year, Mrs. Carter will have to get tighter security to stave off these touchy admirers from crossing over the line.
When an entertainer’s safety-especially one of Knowles’ caliber-is at risk, it’s wise to exercise caution to avoid situations such as these. Sadly, there have been several well-documented cases in which some victims have not been so lucky. Legendary Beatle John Lennon was shot and killed. Actress Theresa Saldana, known for her TV work, was attacked with a knife and, luckily survived the multiple stab wounds. Both were at the hands of deranged fans.
We know the new mom is independent and loves to perform and be close to her legions of fans, but clearly she can agree now that it’s better to be safe than sorry.
