Health Effects of the Coconut

The origin and scientific name of the fruit and Tree of Life, derives from the root word, Cocos Nucifera. Coco, which is monkey face, indicates that the assets of the hairy nut, including the eyes are symbolic of head and face of a monkey. Nucifera is nut-bearing. Coconut contains a nutritious trait of meat, juice, milk, and oil. It has become the commonality to feed many generations around the universe for decades. In some cultures, coconut is a necessity in diet and provides the basic of food consumed and for economic resources.

Coconut is high and rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It is known as an important food as it strengthens excessive health benefits. Whether it’s called a fruit, nut, seed, or just a plain tree, the coconut spreads across many regions. Coconuts are usually categorized into two general types: tall and dwarf. On very fertile area, a tall coconut palm tree can produce up to 75 fruits per year, but more often grows less than 30, mainly due to poor climate conditions. In recent years, changes in cultivation procedures and breeding have produced coconut trees that can grow more.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a special ingredient, because it has healing methods, more than the use of any other dietary supplement. In some cases, coconut oil was ruled as unhealthy for its saturated fat. However, the fat is traditionally good for health factors in medicine. It can treat minor illnesses such as colds, skin rashes, and stomach viruses. In treatment to some of the world’s biggest and deadliest diseases, coconut oil fights measles, Hepatitis C, AIDS and more.

Food with coconut oil or just the coconut itself are usually desserts in cake, cookies, and sometimes candy products. These of course, not quite considered as nourishment to the human body. Still, for the betterment of cooking, many people use coconut oil with meats… Fish, shrimp, and chicken. Every now and then, smaller portions can be found in salads, giving them certain flavor. Therefore, this could be in vegetables to lower heart disease, cholesterol to risks of diabetes. Some folks go as far as eating coconut oil through teaspoons only.

Coconut Water

Coconut water is the clear water in old green coconuts with age marks. It is fat free with strong potassium and was once named as one of the healthiest beverages in the United States. Also, its favorable for its small amounts of fat, carbohydrates, and calories. Definitely, it can carry antioxidants, useful toward metabolism. Coconut water can be found in products like, fruit juices, sports drinks, and yogurt. It is mainly helpful to the digestive system, breaking down enzymes.

Replenishment of electrolytes comes from coconut water, especially an intake of it after exercise. Promotion of weight loss can occur from coconut water. In some emergencies, it has been a substitute for IV accessories. When coconut water loses its naturalness, it begins to ferment. From there, products like, vinegar is made.

Coconut Milk

When coconut oil and water takes their full effect, there’s not anything left, except for coconut milk. Coconut milk has many attributes, most of which build up the immune system and the body’s defenses against bacteria to infections. Coconut milk is common to relieve the symptoms of sore throats and ulcers. It has lauric acid, the substance, researchers have proven to be in breast milk as well. Boasting a creamy taste, coconut milk is an excellent source for calcium, sodium to iron.

Coconut milk is often represented as a vegan item. For those who are lactose intolerant, especially of animal milk, it is a dairy-free solution and reduces soy, gluten, and even nut. It is used to make foods as soups, stews, and adds a nice blend in coffee and more hot liquids. Coconut milk holds up to at least 550 calories and serves a minimum of 50 calories, a cup from its sugar root. It’s well known to protect internal and external organs.

Fresh coconut will continue to be primary for many consumers. The best season to purchase it is between the months of October and December. Fresh coconut can be found in the ethnic parts of almost all local supermarkets. The misconception of what people get from it is its use for just food. Often, it is absorbed in soaps, lotions, and shampoos of body and bath works.
