Healthy Homemade Breakfast/Snack Smoothies

by fat vox

Recently I have struggled a lot with the effects of PTSD after a year-long deployment. I have been unable to take most of the medicine available, so I began searching for alternative ways to boost energy, mood, and reduce stress and anxiety. After much research, I’ve found that these healthy, filling, vitamin packed smoothies have definitely picked up the slack along with a cup of fresh brewed chamomile tea with fresh lemon and honey. These smoothies are also great at helping you maintain a healthy weight and diet. I hope you enjoy these delicious smoothies as much as I have!

Mango-carrot
1 1/4 cups of frozen mango
1 cup of carrot juice
2 cup of mango juice (make sure it is 100% juice)
This is a very sweet smoothie as you get all the flavor of mango and none of the carrot taste.

Mango-berry
2 cups of frozen mango
1 cup of frozen raspberries
1 cup of frozen strawberries
1-2 cups of orange juice, mango juice, out if you like it a bit more tart you can use s passion orange guava juice. That’s what I use!
This is a nice refreshing blend of sweet and tart.

Mango-raspberry
2 cups of frozen mango
1-2 cups of frozen raspberries
1 banana
1 cup of orange juice, mango juice, or passion orange guava juice.
This is another slightly tart smoothie.

Antioxidant
1 cup of frozen blueberries
1 cup of frozen raspberries
1 cup of frozen strawberries
1 cup of unsweetened pomegranate juice
Optional 1 cup of blueberry yogurt.
Tart and delicious!

Orange Dreamsicle Shake (Okay so this one isn’t really healthy.)
1 whole frozen pink lemonade from (I use Concentrate)
1 cup of orange juice
2 cups of orange soda
3 scoops of vanilla ice cream
Very refreshing and sweet!

Orange-berry
1 whole orange
1 cup of frozen mixed berries or blueberries and raspberries.
1 cup of unsweetened pomegranate juice.

Post workout shake
12 oz of milk
2 scoops of chocolate protein powder
1 banana
1 orange
Optional scoop of fiber powder
May add 3 ice cubes for a thicker, colder smoothie.

Anxiety/stress reducing shake
Brew 8oz of a passion flower tea (I use a blend of passion flower for anxiety, chamomile for stress and relaxation, and valerian root for sleep.)
Pour tea into blender
Add 1 cup of frozen blueberries
1 cup of frozen raspberries
(May add extra blueberries as they are helpful in reducing stress and anxiety.)
1cup of unsweetened pomegranate juice if desired.
I suffer from panic attacks and find this shake to be very relaxing. If I don’t have time to make the shake, I just drink the tea plain (16oz)

That’s all for now, but remember, you can add a burst of energy and heart-healthy nutrients by adding a half an avocado to your shake. It will smooth it out without changing the flavor. You can also easily make these into protein shakes by adding the protein powder of your choice. Also, feel free to add 1/4 cup of dry oatmeal to your shake/smoothie before blending for added carbs and to keep you fuller longer. I hope this helps! There is nothing better than starting your day off on the right foot with some healthy energy boosting homemade smoothies! Enjoy!
