Do you pay attention to how your children feel about themselves? It is essential for them to have self-confidence and have a positive outlook on life. You will learn how to raise them to have a high level of self-esteem.
It is up to you to do your job in regard to setting a good example. It is vital for you to feel confident about yourself while letting them see this. I fed off of my parents thinking highly of themselves and behaving as though they did.
Believe in them. It will do little good to personally have a high level of self-esteem and tell your little ones to do this if they can sense that you do not have faith in them. My parents let me know they had faith in me.
Make sure that they are not doomed to fail. No matter what you think about their potential to accomplish something, do not tell them that they are hopeless or that they have no chance to be successful. You also should not allow your friends, your children’s teachers or others to do this. If they do this, you should straighten them out and let them know you will not accept this. Tell them that if they cannot present an encouraging message, they should not say anything at all. It is hard for your kids to be confident if others tell them that they will not go far in life.
Bring them up in an ideal environment. My parents expressed their love to me, fed me well, kept the house clean and raised me in a safe neighborhood. Also, you should do your best to get and keep a good job. Your sons and daughters are likely to think of themselves as winners if they are loved and living comfortably.
Give them positive reinforcement. Never call them unkind names or allow their siblings or friends to do it. My parents praised me when I did the right thing and succeeded. If I messed up while doing a task, they gave me constructive criticism instead of strictly finding fault with and blasting me.
There are other things you can do to help them. Telling them to overcome shyness and be nice to other kids should pay off, as forming good friendships will help them think highly of themselves. By getting me to do creative writing, polish my reading skills, take up hobbies and play sports, my parents helped me see what I was made of as I learned useful skills while having fun.
You have learned how to raise your kids to have a high level of self-esteem. The higher that it is, the happier they will be and the more success they will have in life.
