I’ve been a hardcore gamer and have enjoyed various genres including the FPS genre of games. I started out with FPS on a PC with the original Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, Unreal-Tournament, Half-life series (Which changed my life), and later on to the original Call of Duty games from Call of Duty 1, Call of Duty: United Offensive, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, and then to another mind-blowing game (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare). During the same time, I had also been lucky enough to enjoy the Battlefield games since 1942 and all expansions. Battlefield: Vietnam Redux, Battlefield 2, Battlefield 3, and now Battlefield 4. Battlefield 3 was indeed a huge step in the right direction in my mind. The shooting mechanics and the online multiplayer was well light-years ahead of any title out at the time in my opinion because you could alter the ever changing landscape with the destructibility offered by the Frostbite engine and you had to make sure team play or squad play was your highest priority during matches. Also, to be honest it was different from the latest offerings from Infinity Ward and Treyarch with their constant reiteration of the same old experience and really not much innovation but constantly want to charge everyone $60 dollars for the same game ever since CoD: Modern Warfare.
So onto Battlefield 4 and enough about everything else. I’m an avid console gamer as well but I was very intrigued by the fact that DICE would be giving everyone with a Next Gen console the what is equivalent to a PC Gamer’s Experience since the beginning of gaming itself. I have to say that YES, they have delivered finally with the technology available nowadays the same experience meaning the full experience for Battlefield. If you have a PS3 or Xbox 360, I would strongly encourage you to wait untill you get a PS4 or Xbox One and get the next gen version of this game because it will be well worth it. The graphics, the destructibility, the gameplay, the unlocks, the vehicles, the maps, and everything you see in the trailers is real and then some. The attention to detail is astounding in this game. Whats least mentioned is the audio quality of the game. The hammering sounds of the light machine guns and the whizzing sound of an RPG rocket flying past you to the screams and yells of your squad mates from their avatars is amazing. DICE is doing big things I’d have to say and Battlefield in most parts is definitely another step in the right direction. They have amazing support for the community whether its the PC side or the console and those who upgrade to the PREMIUM expansions will never regret it. Most games that offer season passes don’t give a quarter of the content that DICE gives you in Battlefield. 5 expansions which add TONS of replayability with new maps, weapons, customizations, vehicles, and assignments to your game. It just never gets boring honestly and when you squad up with a group of friends the experience multiplies.
1080p on PS4 60 FPS, Amazing Multiplayer Gameplay, Amazing Graphics, Perfect Controls, Vehicles, Weapons, Customization, Destructibility, Huge Maps, Great Game modes, etc.
The only cons that are worth mentioning are that the game has just launched and just like any launch title or new game that includes online multi there will be some server issues and instability bugs in the game. Which DICE has already been addressing with new patches and updates as well as Double XP and free new weapons for those who are loyal to the game.
