The Nov. 17 episode of “Homeland” was called “A Red Wheelbarrow.” In this thrilling, tense episode, Carrie and Quinn try to track down the bomber and bring him in alive. However, it isn’t long before things start to go pear-shaped. On the plus side…no Dana this week! Here’s what happened in this episode, in case you missed it!
Despite their rough patch earlier this season, Saul and Mira seem to be in a good place. She has ditched Alain, and wants to be with Saul. Mira and Saul are acting all lovey-dovey, and he even makes her a romantic breakfast in bed. He trusts that he has really turned Javadi, and he is more confident than he has been all season…despite skepticism of his plan from Lockhart and Higgins. Saul insists that Javadi can be trusted, and his proud that Javadi is the highest-ranked mole the agency has ever installed in Iran. Saul believes that Javadi will use his alleged relationship with Carrie to gain trust in Iran, and then initiate a regime change.
Carrie visits the doctor
Carrie has the first sonogram appointment of her pregnancy. She is about 13 weeks along, but doctors are concerned about the health of the fetus. Carrie’s drinking and lithium use could hurt the baby. Carrie admits that the work she is doing is directly related to the baby’s father.
Hunting for the bomber
In an attempt to flush out the bomber, Carrie and Quinn try to follow the trail left by Frankling and Bennett. Using wiretapped conversations as their guidelines, the CIA tails Franklin. When Carrie sees Franklin with a silenced handgun, she confronts him. The CIA needs to capture the bomber alive, not dead.
Dar Adal tells Carrie to quiet down, or else the entire operation will be compromised. When Carrie doesn’t acquiesce, Quinn shoots her in the arm. Franklin then kills the bomber. Carrie freaks out, and gets angry when she realizes Saul isn’t even around to supervise the op.
Welcome back, Brody
After hinting all episode that Saul was taking a big trip that Carrie couldn’t know about, the episode ends with Saul visiting Caracas. He goes to the Tower, gives El Nino a huge bribe, and is escorted to Brody’s cell. It looks like Brody may have developed a nasty drug habit!
Will Saul help Carrie and Brody to reunite, or is the plan to bring Brody back to the US for trial? What will El Nino do with $10 million in cash? With only four episodes left this season, it’s clear things are about to escalate in a big way!
“Homeland” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
