Previously on “Homeland,” Carrie and Saul revealed that every awful thing that happened to Carrie so far this season was actually part of a plan that the pair concocted in order to draw the Langley bomber out into the open. Even Carrie’s seeming betrayal of CIA secrets to Iranian agents was part of the plan! Now that Carrie and Saul’s plan is finally getting them somewhere, Carrie’s “yoga play” has really put her in an awkward position.
Drafted for Dana
While Carrie is still trying to get in with the terrorists, Jessica tracks her down and asks for help with the whole runaway Dana situation. Dana’s gone off on a joyride with her boyfriend, and it turns out that the boyfriend was actually responsible for the suicide pact that took the life of his brother!
Helping to find Dana could blow her cover, but Carrie is loyal to the Brody family, so she agrees to help despite the personal risk. Dana learns the truth by overhearing a news broadcast at a gas station, breaks it off with her boyfriend, and goes home.
Better call Saul
Meanwhile, Saul is having a pretty bad week. He thinks he’s a shoe-in for the permanent CIA Director position. He’s been a good interim director, but he gets blindsided when the powers that be decide that Senator Lockhart deserves the post instead. Saul’s been too busy running his scheme with Carrie and trying to take down Javadi, and he hasn’t been playing politics very well.
If his professional life is bad, then his personal life is even worse. He comes home from his crushing defeat and finds his wife entertaining another man! Looks like his marriage to Mira may finally end!
Quinn on the inside
Peter Quinn proved earlier this season that he cares about Carrie and deeply respects the work she has done for the agency. He wasn’t originally in on their plan, but Saul has brought Quinn into the fold. Quinn struggles not to interfere when Carrie gets dragged off to see the terrorists, but Saul manages to calm him down a bit.
The final confrontation
Javadi’s men grab Carrie and drag her off to see their boss. Her next step will be to trick Javadi into revealing the secrets of his organization. By getting into bed with Javadi, can Carrie possibly get to a place where she and Brody could be together once more? Or did Javadi’s men figure out that Carrie was working with the authorities to help track Dana? Whatever happens next, Carrie is going to be entirely on her own.
“Homeland” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
