How to Beat Candy Crush Level 167 Without Using Boosters

by fat vox

Some levels of Candy Crush Saga are a lot harder than others and if you are just starting out with the game you might laugh when you hear people say that there are levels that they have been stuck on for weeks. One thing to keep in mind is that everyone gets the same board design however the placement of the colors of the candies are different each time the board loads. Some levels require planning and skill to create combinations to clear jellies but others are pure luck. If you don’t get the colors you need, you could be stuck on a level for days, weeks or months.

The goals for this level are to get to 80,000 points (or more), clear all of the jellies and keep the chocolate pieces from taking over the board. They are replicating chocolates that are ‘spun’ out of the chocolate machines. On earlier levels there were stationary chocolate pieces that could be completely destroyed; once you cleared the chocolate it wouldn’t come back. On this level and levels higher than this, the chocolate machines will keep creating chocolate pieces. There is no way to destroy the chocolate machines but if you destroy a chocolate it prevents one from being created on the next move.

You can expect a lot of wasted moves on this level so if you have an Android device you are going to have a better chance of beating it. When you play through the Facebook app and the board forces a shuffle of the piece when there are no more moves you end up losing a move. If you are playing on an Android device you might get end-game pop ups offering you Lollipop Hammers and a refill on your lives if you play one of the other King Games; then there are the boosters that are unlocked at certain levels. The boosters can come in handy but if you get dependent on them and start buying them, you could end up spending a lot of money on them. The Bubblegum Troll booster will remove all of the chocolate pieces on the board and prevent new pieces from forming for five moves. This does not prevent chocolates from being formed.

I beat this level several times with and without boosters to finally get the three star ranking; the stars are a nice perk if you are playing with a lot of people because it shows how advanced you are at completing levels. The friends I have the play are still in the mid 100 part of the game so if I beat a level and only get one star I go back to it at a later time to try to get two or three stars. No two people are going to try to clear the board the same way but after playing it 50+ times I found that clearing the center sections with the striped and wrapped candy combo was the best way to go. The more jelly pieces you can clear before you expose the chocolate machines the better but the combo moves can help get the job done faster.

One of the perils of working a level like this is trying to remember which pieces of jelly have been cleared and which ones are still on the board. Once the chocolate machines start churning out pieces you can’t tell if the block has been cleared or now (meaning if they jelly has been removed). If you can keep track of which blocks are clear you can avoid wasting moves to remove the chocolates to double check. I made that mistake one time and one time only; I thought that I had cleared all the jelly and was on the edge of my seat waiting to hear the words “Sugar Crush” and the game ended because there was one jelly hidden under a chocolate piece.

If you can use the Swimming Fish booster (the in-game booster, not one that you pay for) when you have cleared about 70% of the jelly you are going to have a better chance of beating the level. If you clear the board and have left over moves the “swimming fish’ are activated based on the number of moves you have left. That can be enough to get you to the point level needed to win the game if you hadn’t reached 80K but it could also help bump you up to the three star ranking. On a side note, if you have boosters that you earned from unlocking levels or from playing other games you have to select them before you start a level. The only boosters that can be used while the game is being played are the Lollipop Hammers, Chompers and Bubblegum Troll.

Some people refuse to use boosters of any kind because they consider it cheating. When you have spent days or weeks playing a level and you have one move left and one jelly left without any possible way of clearing it, the booster are extremely tempting. If you can get them for free by playing other King Games that’s great but the prices on the packages that are available now are on the high side for what you get and if you lose the level you lose the booster so there’s no ‘do over’.
