Gong meditation is one of the oldest methods of healing physical, mental and spiritual problems. Chanting gong mantras can also provide a strong support and anchor during your meditation. The unique and powerful sound of the gong produces penetration inside your body, which is a stronger form of meditation in the body. Set up your space. The first step your need to do is set up the space where you will meditate. Remember that gong meditation is considered as spiritual healing. Be sure to respect your spiritual space and maintain a clean and relaxing atmosphere. Before you start meditating, clean the surrounding of your spiritual space. This will show how sincere you are in your meditation.
Place your gong in a small table. After preparing your mind, it is time to set up your gong. Place your gong in a small table at the center of your spiritual space. Afterwards, put necessary accessories like white votive candles and incense sticks and hen prepare to light them when you are about to begin your meditation. Incense is a traditional material used in meditation. People believe that it is a tool, which helps communicate to spiritual beings. When you are buying incense, make sure to pick a scent that you are comfortable with and can give you a relaxing feeling.
Set your mind. When you are finished preparing your spiritual space and gong, it is time to set your mind. Clear your thoughts and focus on your meditation. You can’t achieve full meditation if your mind is full of disturbing thoughts. Concentrate and try to focus on the task you are about to do.
Place yourself in front of the gong’s table. When you are done setting up the necessary things needed for your gong meditation, it is time to begin. Be sure to turn off the lights in your spiritual space and close window blinds so no light can pass through your space. After wards, place a small chair in front of the gong’s table and sit. Clear your thoughts again and start closing your eyes while having a slow and deep breath. Concentrate and try to feel your body relax as you take a breath. Take rhythmical breaths and focus.
Strike the gong. When you are on your comfort zone, pick up the gong beater and strike it just enough to hear a loud sound. Upon striking, immediately chant your mantra and say “OM” or “Aum”. Level your voice to the sound of the gong. When the silence fills the room, strike the gong again and repeat your chant.
Continue your chant for at least 20 minutes. In order to achieve full meditation, continue chanting for 20 minutes. Always be sincere when chanting your mantra. End your chant by striking the gong again.
