My mother designed and sewed many wedding gowns throughout the years. Many brides came and went through our doors, each with a uniqueness of their own. I observed as bride after bride decided on which dress design was their favorite and which shoes where the best for their special night. I was one of those brides. Since I lived in Puerto Rico, a beautiful tropical paradise, many of the brides chose to wear sandals. Even tough it broke tradition, their wedding sandals complemented their tropical look, and provided the extra comfort necessary for such a busy event. After weighing the options and checking different wedding shoes for comfort, I, too, decided to wear wedding flats for my wedding.
Traditionally, a bride wears high heels. Therefore, how does she decide to change tradition and wear flat wedding shoes? It is not an easy decision. Brides look for style, comfort, and uniqueness. High heels, although, many brides wear them and look beautiful, may not provide as much comfort as wedding flats. Should a bride compromise the comfort of bridal flats, for the look of high heels? No, they should not. Therefore, her uniqueness and individuality influences her decision to wear flat wedding shoes. A bride has considerations and choices to make, including comfort, style, and uniqueness.
Wedding shoes, flat out, need to be comfortable. An uncomfortable bride smiles on the outside but is miserable on the inside. For a bride, the weddings day involves her walking up and down steps, down the aisle, and around the reception. She will be standing at the altar, posing for pictures, and greeting guests. She will be dancing with the groom, her father, and others. All of these pose great stress to her feet. With the wrong shoes, she could experience pain and discomfort. Two things she does not need to be a part of her special day. Bridal flats will provide comfort and will eliminate pain.
Flat Wedding shoes, whether called bridal flats or wedding flats, are available in different styles, colors, shapes, and décor. A bride has an array of options available to her. The choices are plenty. Bridal flats are available in open or closed toe style, sandals, slip on, and others. Color variety is available to match any themed color chosen. Otherwise, tinting to exact match is also available to her. The shapes can mimic that of high heels, too. If the bride wishes to have a certain décor on her wedding flats, these are available, too.
Brides want a one of a kind wedding. They carefully select wedding accessories that project the “perfect wedding image” they created. Bridal flats are such an accessory. A bride that wears wedding flats exerts her own character traits that portray her uniqueness, individuality, and personality.
The choice between bridal flats and high heels is a personal choice. The decision, as to which one to wear, needs to include the following considerations: Are you comfortable wearing the shoes chosen? Does the style complement your dress and look? Are you unique wearing these shoes? If your answer is yes to all three, then you have made the right choice.
