How to Dress like a Favorite Fall TV Character: Alicia Florrick from “The Good Wife”

by fat vox

A stunning look of Alicia Florrick from “The Good Wife,” played by Julianna Margulies, is hard to miss. She is the main character on the show and portrays a very complicated and vulnerable woman. As the name of the show “The Good Wife” states she is supposed to be a “good wife,” but in reality she is not. Mrs. Florrick is trying to be good at her job as a lawyer, as a mother to her two teenage children, and as an honest wife to her husband Peter Florrick, the governor of Illinois. The truth of the matter is she does not always succeed in juggling all these important roles in her life, which makes her more intriguing and interesting as a person to watch.

She is a beautiful, stylish, sexy, and slightly jaded woman. She is fashionable, but conservative in her dress code as she should be as a lawyer, as a politician’s wife, and as a mother, with an occasional edginess shown on special occasions. She is not afraid to show her skin once-in-a-while, like at the gala or during the intimate moments with her husband Mr. Florrick or her lover Will Gardner, a partner at a prestigious law firm.

In short, she looks always pulled together for any situation. Most of her clothes are of the solid color: black, red, purple, dark blue, or gray. She favors the pencil skirts, suit jackets, and well-fitted, tailored dresses, and high heels. She wears her dark, brunette, straight hair well groomed and the shoulder length. Even though, she is the mother of two teenage children, she looks young and fresh, and thirty-something.

If you admire this fashionable fall TV character as much as I do and would like to recreate her look, you might do the following:

1) Stick to basic and solid colors when you choose your clothes.
Stay away from any stripy, flowery, or animal print clothesline. When you match the top and the bottom to create a whole new outfit, remember that black and white colors match with any bright colors of your choice. Don’t ever match two bright colors together, such as: red and yellow or orange and purple, to name a few. You would look like a clown, not a stylish and sophisticated woman.

2) Choose a few great looking pencil skirts. It is really a great investment.
I would highly recommend to buy white, black, and gray pencil skirts made of heavy fabric; stay away from any light and lacy material. You can pair up these skirts basically with anything: silky shirts of any color, turtleneck sweaters, and cardigans.

3) Own at least one suit jacket (black or dark red is an ideal choice).
You would be able to pair the jacket with any pencil skirt of your choice or pants.

4) Buy a well-tailored and perfectly fitted dress of a solid color.
The dress could be long sleeved or short sleeved (your pick), but it has to accentuate your figure.

5) To complete the whole sophisticated look of Alicia Florrick, you must own a pair of high-heeled black shoes and the nude color pantyhose.
You can get those items practically anywhere at the stores near you.

6) The last, but not the least important item on the list is the make-up and hair.
Keep your make-up simple and conservative looking. Use your common sense in terms of choosing the color of the lipstick, mascara, eye shadow, eyeliner, and the blush. Moderation is the key. Keep your hair simple, but well groom and the shoulder length. That is it.

I hope the above steps were easy to follow and fun to do.
