The Xbox 360 Headset heightens the experience of online gaming. Using the headset allows you to talk directly to people you are playing with or against over the Internet. With this Xbox headset, you can create strategies with your teammates about how to progress in the game, trash-talk your opponents or chat with friends. It can also be used for games that support voice-command features.
Plug the AC adapter into the wall and connect the other end to the small port on the end of the headset for its initial charge-up. Charge the headset for at least 12 hours prior to using it for the first time to allow the battery to be conditioned, allowing for the best possible battery life in future.
Switch on your Xbox 360 Console; make sure a controller is connected by holding down the round Xbox button in the middle of the controller.
Sign in to your gamer profile. Make sure you are connected to Xbox live by going to ‘My Xbox’ from the Xbox home screen, then choosing ‘Network Settings’ – if you are connected you will see the message ‘Xbox LIVE is up and running’.
Press and hold the power button on the outside of the headset which is located between the volume up and volume down buttons. The lights on the inside of the headset will start flashing when the headset is turned on.
Press the ‘sync’ button on the front of you Xbox 360 console, which is a plain, small circular button located on the front of your Xbox next to the memory card ports. Hold this button down for 3 seconds, and let go.
Similarly, you need to press the sync button on the headset, which is located on the inside of the mouthpiece end, and is a similar small white, round button. Again, hold this for a few seconds and then let go. After a few seconds the Xbox should recognize your headset and will flash to indicate this. The best way to know is that all of the lights on the inside of the headset will be a solid color.
You are now ready to use your headset! Slide it over your preferred ear, and then Xbox Live Silver members can select a friend from their friends list, and choose the ‘Invite to private Chat’ option. Then simply start talking, you are now connected to your friend.
You can adjust the volume of the other person by pressing the + and – symbol buttons on your headset, located either side of the silver power button mentioned earlier in this guide.
Xbox Live Gold members can also invite friends to ‘Party Chat’ enabling you to speak to more than one friend at a time. In addition to this, you can speak to people in an online multiplayer game (Such as Halo 3) whenever a microphone sign is shown, or when you can hear other people’s voices. Please consult each game’s user manual for information on how voice chat can be used differently in each separate game.
To turn the headset off, simply press the silver power button on the side. It will also turn itself off after a certain period of inactivity. Next time you want to use it, you will no longer have to perform the ‘Sync’ step mentioned earlier, simply use the power button and you are ready to go.
