Did you see a video on YouTube that made you laugh, or cry, or want to dance? Well share it with your Tumblr followers! It may seem overwhelming, but it is really quite simple. There are two ways to share a YouTube video, you can share it directly from YouTube or you can post it from your Tumblr account.
How To Share From YouTube
This method is simpler and generally quicker than the second method. First you have to decide on a video that you think you followers will want to view. Underneath the video you should see a thumbs-up and thumbs-down symbol (so you can “like” it), to the right of the thumbs you will see a link labeled “about” and then a link labeled “share.” Click the link labeled “share.” Once you have clicked that link more options will appear underneath it. You should see three symbols, one for Facebook, for Twitter, and then one for Google Plus. After the third symbol of Google Plus, there should be an arrow pointing right. Click the arrow. Six more symbols should appear for social networking sites, the first symbol to appear after Google Plus is a blue box with the letter “T’ in it for Tumblr. Click the Tumblr icon. A Tumblr window should appear with a post all set up for you. (If you weren’t already logged into Tumblr from the computer you are on, it will prompt you to log in first). There will be a text box with a blinking cursor so you can add your own caption. Type whatever you want your followers to see when the video appears on their newsfeed. Once you have finished adding a caption, click the gray box labeled “create post,” which is located to the lower left of your caption box.
How To Post From Tumblr
Once you have chosen the YouTube video you wish to post on Tumblr, you will click “share” just like you did in the previous method. After you click the icon labeled share a textbox will appear underneath it with the link to the video highlighted blue. Right-click the highlighted link and then select “copy” from the box that appears. Once you have copied the link, open a new tab and go to the Tumblr website. Enter your username and password into the log-in screen. Once your home screen loads, you will see a long white rectangular box above your newsfeed. The box will have seven icons labeled: text, photo, quote, link, chat, audio, and video. You will want to click the last icon labeled video. A white text-box will appear with the phrase, “Embed code or video URL.” Place your cursor in the text-box and right-click your mouse, a list of options will appear, select “paste.” The URL you just copied from YouTube should appear in the text-box after you click “paste.” You have the option of entering a caption underneath the video if you wish to. After you have entered your caption, click the gray box labeled “create post” that I described in the previous method.
