Green and red are traditional x-mas colors, and they are iconic of the season. Homes and businesses are decorated from top to bottom with scarlet and emerald baubles and beads of many different types. Break free from tradition, and choose pink instead. Use these ideas for easy homemade Christmas decorations, and start your own holiday decorating scheme or theme. Decorate with what you prefer instead of what everyone else expects to see.
Make Gorgeous Hot Pink Ornaments Using Clear Bulbs and Nail Enamel
If you want to find the perfect shade of pink for your homemade Christmas ornaments, forget about searching the seasonal aisle of a local discount store. Visit the nail care aisle instead, and look for nail enamel in a shade of your choice. Buy clear round holiday bulbs, and paint them with your favorite shade of pink nail enamel. For best results, do not paint the exteriors. For a flawless finish, pour the nail enamel inside of each bulb, and turn them around to evenly coat the interior. Leave the tops off until the polish fully dries, and carefully reattach the stems to avoid scratching the enamel. Consider using polish infused with glitter for swankier decorations that will shimmer and shine when enhanced by light.
Create a Wreath with Bath Poufs and Small Pearl-White Bulbs
Wreaths are popular decorating accessories, especially around Christmastime. Instead of buying an overpriced pink pine wreath, make one using budget bath poufs. Begin by spray painting a flat wreath form with pink spray paint. The background might show through in places, and the paint will hide the form. Cut the ropes off of the bath poufs, just above the knot. Attach them to the form using hot glue. Use as many as it takes to create a puffy pink wreath. Decorate it further by adding small pearl-white bulbs, glittery stars or other decorations that catch your eye. Hang it on a wall or a door for phenomenal homemade pink Christmas decor. Dare to be different!
Make Strings of Glittery Pink Pine cones
Pine cones are iconic of the Christmas season. People often buy cinnamon and/or vanilla scented cones to decorate their staircases, wreaths and holiday trees. Forget about buying overpriced scented decorations. Create homemade strings of glittery pink pine cones instead. Find or buy woody pine cones along with pink acrylic craft paint, iridescent glitter, a paintbrush and a small craft sponge. If you want scented decorations, you will also need a bottle of essential oil and a cotton ball. Apply the paint with a slightly damp sponge, and cover the nooks and crannies with a brush.
While the paint is still wet, sprinkle the pine cones with iridescent glitter. Place them on newsprint to dry. If desired, apply several drops of essential oil using a cotton ball. You can glue them to wreaths or hang them from your holiday tree. Use your imagination. They would also look fantastic in a clear bowl along with small round silver and white ornaments in varying sizes. In any case, you will have a rosy holiday with these unique and eye-catching Christmas decorations.
