I am a typical 20 something. I take decent care of my skin and it is probably considered “okay” by normal standards, even if it might still be a little finicky at times. But admittedly, my skin has been a point of personal frustration for most of my life. During those formative middle school years, my oversized forehead seemed to breakout without reason. Throughout high school, my breakouts were subdued by a magical topical medication from a kind dermatologist who took pity on me. Eventually, all of the medications, and fancy face washes gave way to the grown up skin of my college years, and now while I’m no longer overwhelmed with breakouts like I was in my youth, I am guilty of some serious skin abuse. Like so many of us, I have a job that stresses me out. I don’t get as much sleep as I should, and let’s be honest, I might not drink as much water as I should either. I have the beginnings of those worry lines between my brows, and the faintest beginnings of crow’s feet around my eyes. So what’s a girl to do for some serious skin SOS? I’ve been on a never ending quest to find the best of the best in terms of facial moisturizers that will prevent any more lines from developing, and minimize the ones that have already begun to form! So far my pursuit has produced a number of stellar, albeit not cheap, options:
Lancôme, Visionnaire ($89.00 at Sephora.com)
Lancôme’s Visionnaire goes on super smoothly. The formula is lightweight and has a nice fragrance to it. A little goes a long way.
Peter Thomas Roth, Laser-Free Resurfacer and Laser-Free Regenerator Moisturizing Gel Cream ($75.00 and $68.00, respectively, at Sephora.com)
The Peter Thomas Roth Laser-Free Resurfacer and Regenerator work nicely in conjunction with each other. The Resurfacer goes on first. The bright red color of both products is a little alarming at first, but fear not- the color blends away quickly. The Moisturizing Gel Cream has a nice consistency to it that is quite unique. The formula does a nice job of moisturizing without making my face too oily or greasy. Both products are great for day or night.
Bliss, The Youth As We Know It Anti-Aging Night Cream ($79.00 at Sephora.com)
The Bliss Anti-Aging Night Cream has a nice citrus-like fragrance to it. It does a great job of moisturizing my skin when it is not too dry to begin with. It doesn’t make my sensitive skin breakout, which is a nice plus!
Shiseido, Bio-Performance Advanced Super Revitalizing Cream ($75.00 at Sephora.com)
Quite possibly the most moisturizing of all- the Shiseido cream is like magic in a beautiful bottle. Pretty packaging aside, the Revitalizing Cream does a great job of moisturizing particularly parched skin.
