Christopher Nolan is busy building his “Interstellar” cast and the latest name to join the list is Anne Hathaway. The actress joins the “Interstellar” cast alongside Matthew McConaughey, who has signed on as the star of the movie. Little is known about the movie outside of the fact that it is a science fiction film. Christopher Nolan is working on the film, based on a script by his brother Jonathan Nolan. The two previously collaborating on the last two “The Dark Knight” film, “The Prestige” and “Memento.”
The idea of “Interstellar” is based on the theories of Caltech astrophysicist Kip Thorn, which themselves are based on Einstein’s theory of relativity. His theories speculate about things like black holes, time travel and wormholes, making the ideas of what this movie could be about very diverse.
However, one thing that is known is that Nolan is putting together a quality cast for the movie. Anne Hathaway joining the “Interstellar” cast is not really a surprise, considering Nolan’s penchant for hiring talented people and his past with the actress.
Anne Hathaway has always been a critically acclaimed actress, winning dozens of awards over her career. Things really started to pick up steam for her in 2009, when she gained her first Golden Globes and Oscar nomination for her work in “Rachel Getting Married.” Two years later, she grabbed another nomination for “Love and Other Drugs,” but it was 2013 where Hathaway finally broke out. The daughter of Kate McCauley Hathaway starred in the same role her mother did years before in “Les Miserables” and won both a Golden Globes award and an Oscar for her role as Fantine. The win finally pushed Anne Hathaway to the top of her profession.
Interestingly, her performance in “Les Miserables” may have won her an Oscar, but many people know her more from her other role that year in the Christopher Nolan film “The Dark Knight Rises.” In this final movie in the “Dark Knight” trilogy, Hathaway played the iconic character of Selina Kyle, better known as Catwoman. Her performance in the movie was critically lauded and she apparently impressed Nolan, who has now invited her to join the “Interstellar” cast. Needless to say, 2012 was a huge year for Anne Hathaway and it looks like the best is yet to come.
