As we have all noticed, the iOS 7 is up to this day the biggest change Apple’s operating system has ever seen; from fonts to colors and even icon designs. Even though changes where big, the same experience and the same feel that used to be in previous versions of the operating system are still the same
To start off with the pros in this upgrade, I have to mention six things that Apple got right. First thing to mention is the new control center that provides quick access to many features like Bluetooth, Wifi, brightness and even air drop. Number two on the list has to be the ability of blocking contacts from calling and messaging you which Apple has finally added after years of upgrades. Third feature which is a really small but useful one is the time stamps that enables you to see each and every message’s exact time of being sent or received. Fourth on the list is the new icon design, the more modern and colorful icons. In my opinion they are a good upgrade from what icons used to be before by flattening them and enhancing there color patterns. The fifth feature worth of mentioning is improving the multitasking into a better and easier experience. The last on the list is the automatic updates which saves you a lot of time by updating applications without your notice instead of manually going through each application to update it.
The negative features of this upgrade can also be summarized into five, starting off with the ability to view your phone in landscape mode. Why is this option available on iPads but not implemented into iPhones for instance. Why can’t i simply view my phone completely in landscape mode? Apple should think that through especially that it does not require too much effort to make. The second negative feature is not being able to “Select all” in the mail application. Having my e-mail created years ago, like many other people, we receive so much spam mail from websites we never even visited, and it would be nice while looking through our e-mail to be able to select all our mails and delete them instead of going through every single mail by itself and delete it. Third concern would be the built in keyboard, not that it has any problems itself but why cant we use third party keyboard like android users and adjust them the way we want and the way we feel comfortable using a keyboard. Fourth on the list would definitely be the ability to have much more control on the widget area in the home screen where customizing our home screen would be available to us in the ways we wish to. The last on the list is the restriction of not allowing us to remove Apple applications that we never even use such as the Passbook that take space uselessly.
In my opinion, it is a very big step forward for Apple to make such a huge upgrade in there operating system, but never the less, let the people be more self controlling and free in there phones to enhance user experience.
