Is everybody sexually preoccupied in American Politics? Unprecedented and unparalleled in human history, 21st Century technology has made it easy for the human predispositions to sexual expression to be shared instantly, locally and globally. New York City Mayoral hopeful and former member of Congress Anthony Weiner’s sexual behavior using technology preoccupies the mayor’s race.
Weiner is not alone. Former President of the United States Bill Clinton denied having sex with Monica Lewinksy. DNA told us otherwise. The Reverend Jesse Jackson summoned to comfort the Clinton White House Family during the Lewinsky Affair was himself involved in an affair resulting in fathering a child outside his marriage.
Whether logical, immature, or mentally ill; men and women across the world are texting and emailing videos and photos of themselves and their genitals.
Anthony Weiner challenges the voters of New York. By his own admission, he has habits most high profile political figures would not want others to know. Huffington Post Edition of June 7, 2011 credits Weiner with bringing about the first social media political sex scandal.
The former Member of Congress from New York resigned from Congress amidst revelations of sexting sexually explicit material to women. Further evidence of sexting reported after becoming a candidate for Mayor of New York. USA Today Edition July 24, 2013 reports Weiner will stay in race despite calls to drop out.
Steven Nelson wrote in U.S. News and World Report on January 25, 2013 that it had been 25 years since January 26, 1998 when President Clinton told America, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.” On August 17, 1998, All Politics reported President Clinton commenting that he had in fact had a relationship with Lewinsky that was inappropriate. He called the behavior a critical lapse in judgment and acknowledged the responsibility of his wrongdoing.
Monica Davey reporting in the New York Times November 23, 2013 Edition reminded the nation Rev. Jackson showed up at the White House to offer spiritual guidance during the Monica Lewinsky Scandal. The Washington Post August 18, 1998 Edition reported Rev. Jackson prayed with Mrs. Clinton during her season of humiliation.
ABC News reported Rev. Jackson having an affair while counseling Clinton. An out of wedlock daughter was born of Rev. Jackson’s Affair.
21st Century Technology
21st Century Technology available to use the Internet by phone, desktop and laptop computers, tablets and TV’s has given rise to sharing content in unprecedented and unparalleled ways. People across the Earth are sharing everything the Internet distributes.
Logical or not, sharing sexually explicit photos and videos is commonplace among teens and adults in the developed world. Is the behavior illegal? It is not unless adults are involved with minors.
The morality of the behavior considered questionable. Many suspect people making the most noise about the behavior of men in high profile positions of leadership are likely as guilty as them or more of similar licentious behavior. Is everybody sexually preoccupied in American Politics?
