Ever since Sachin has announced his retirement plans, everyone is just talking about it only. Some are saying RIP Cricket, We will not watch cricket, Cricket is died etc. and many more things about the news. Sachin took more than 2 years to decide this but according to me he should have retired just after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Final but leave it, this is not my point here, actually what I really want to highlight here is that Is Sachin really worth this hype..??
Sachin is going to retire after the upcoming Test series against West Indies after playing the 200th Test but if you follow cricket even as a hobby then I expect from you that you must know that this series was not in the FTP (Future Tour Program) of BCCI and the next series that India had to play, was against South Africa and in South Africa. Then, why did BCCI changed their FTP to accommodate the series against West Indies which is not even going to give them any good financial profit unless it is the last series of Sachin Tendulkar??
The reason given by BCCI was that the series has been scheduled to give Sachin the chance to play it in India and now the news is that Sachin is also going to play the last Test at Mumbai i.e. in front of his home ground. The reason again the same that because Sachin requested to BCCI to give him a chance to play in front of his home ground. This decision has also been taken by violating the rotation policy of BCCI in which BCCI give every ground chance to host Tests one by one as according to the policy, the final Test was to be held in Bangalore but now it will be held in Mumbai.
Now, it can be easily seen that BCCI is doing every bit to make the last Test and series successful for Sachin as much as they can. I want to ask one thing that is Sachin really worth this?? Is he bigger than the game so that every rule and regulation is getting broken just make his farewell memorable. Many legends have retired before Sachin like Kapil Dev, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar and many more but nothing like this was done for them.
In my opinion if you are so much worried about it, then you should also ask Sachin that on which type of pitch (Flat, Green, Turner, Sporting) he would like to play his final Test and the authority to decide that which bowlers from the Caribbean team will bowl to him and what type of fielding can be set when he is batting should be given only to Sachin then I think it will be really a memorable series from him.
I am not a Sachin hater but I just want to say that no player is bigger is than Cricket not even Sachin Tendulkar,
Just remember one thing:-
“It is Cricket who made Sachin, Not Sachin who made Cricket..!!!”
