Is This Boston’s Year?

by fat vox

Well Red Sox’s fans it has been one heck of a year. Beards, injuries, players who have played the entire season hurt, and it is all worth it. The Red Sox’s are World Series bound. If you are anything like me so far the post season has been filled with nail biting suspense, moments that have made us laugh, cry, and scream till we have no voice. We have cursed them, turned the game off only to turn it back on moments later but that’s all part of being a New England fan.

If you haven’t been following post season so far. Let me cover some of what you have missed. Tampa was an easy win. Detroit on the other hand has had me praying to the baseball gods like the apocalypse was upon us. Detroit’s pitching was on fire all six games. The first two games the put up for the better part of the games no hitters. Game two was when we finally found our swing. We were down 1 to 5 when our heavy hitter Big Papi came to bat with bases loaded. Only to hit the most beautiful grand Slam I have ever seen. It was also the grand slam that has brought on the newest crazy called Huntering. We watched Hunter flip over the wall in the outfield of Fenway attempting to catch the home run. Hunter was later said, ” This is post season I would die on that field.” Which is when I am a Red Sox’s fan knew we were about to have a serious fight on our hands. And fight we did.

It took us all the way to game six to finally bring it all home. The real question on every Sox’s fan is can we go all the way. Boston has a terrible history of losing it in the last minute, and breaking all of our heart. While I am worried and the Cardinals have been on fire this October, I have faith. That is all you can do as a Boston fan have faith. Faith is what has gotten us thru the 86-year curse. It is what got us thru management issues last season, and it is what has gotten us this far this season.

Anyone who was blessed enough to watch the curse be broken in 2004 knows there was magic on that field. Boston could do no wrong, and even when you thought it was all over and we were going home empty handed, and devastated they shocked us. There were moments that can only be described as miracles. Well folks I can tell you that I have seen that same magic this beautiful October. Wild pitches that have allowed us steal third leading to scoring run. A team that is so connected it appears like they know what the other players are going to do before it even happens, and come backs that seem impossible.

Like any Sox’s fan that has lived thru the curse, who danced in the street of Boston after it was broken, and has cried over the years we were so close I’m just a little terrified to jinx them. So while I won’t say we are going to win. What I am going to say is the Cardinals better be ready to fight. Fear the beard cause Boston has not only been the number one team in baseball for most of the year, but they are appearing to be unstoppable. Is this their year? In a matter of seven games we will know the answer. So sit down, buckle up, and join me in a little prayer to the baseball god.
