It is definitely true! It’s better to give without expecting to receive! This is proven to me over and over, yet I don’t do it on a daily basis. Why? The only reason I can think of is the fact that I’m human. Many times I just don’t put forth the effort for one reason or another. They could very well be good reasons, but if I could just offer one little caring gesture to someone in need, whether it be for the disabled, a Senior Citizen or just a friendly neighbor who works very hard and has little time to spend with their family, I would receive triple the blessings in my Life. Not that I am expecting to be blessed, it just happens. It’s just the way life works.
For myself, I truly believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. Others may believe in the Universe, Mother Nature, Buddha or one of the other God’s/Leader’s that are mentioned throughout the world. However, this is not my point or topic of discussion today. My point is simply, whether you grew up with those words, “it’s better to give than to receive” or not, I’m finding that it is true. This is proven by people all over the world who try and share this with others every second of every day. The words come to us in many different ways (they truly do come to us). If we could just take a few minutes each day to:
- Sit quietly and/or Meditate
- Listen to soft music or read an inspiring message
- Give thanks, out loud and from our heart, for what we have
- Give something to, or spend time with, someone in need (with a pure heart, not out of feeling obligated)
Receiving blessings will happen over and over again. Before we know it, we are as happy as we have ever imagined we could be. At least this is what I hear and often read about (“typing with a smile”)!
There are many people that I admire and look to for inspiration, besides The Lord. A few absolutely amazing people, that I Love and subscribe to online for daily inspiration, are Joel Osteen, Deepak Chopra, and Melody Fletcher. Of course, you can catch any one of them on TV, radio, in person, e-mail and/or by phone. You may not be lucky enough to talk directly to them or be able to have a personal visit with them, but you will be given inspiration specifically from them in one way or another. I prefer the Internet because I love having whatever it is that I need right at my fingertips! I also registered on their website to receive daily inspirational material via e-mail. It’s like a gift in my mailbox every day!
Go ahead and give it a try! Don’t try too hard though. I found that when I try too hard, it doesn’t happen as I imagined. That’s just me. So, when I get the urge to do something nice, I follow through with it without thinking twice and I reap the benefits of my many blessings that I never even expected!
