James Dornan of ‘Once Upon a Time’ to Star in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’

As a fan of ABC’s “Once Upon a Time,” you may or may not also be a fan of E L James bestselling novel, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey.’ While both “Once Upon a Time” and ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ have a certain amount of fantasy involved in the storyline, it would be a stretch to call them similar. Regardless, unless you have been swept away and taken captive in Neverland, it would be difficult to miss the media melee surrounding the announcement of the actor chosen to place the lead role in the big screen version of the novel. The chosen one is James Dornan, and while his name is hardly household, his face is all too familiar to fans of “Once Upon a Time.”

When the announcement was made that James Dornan had landed the much discussed role of Christian Grey, he was described as a virtual unknown. But those who are avid viewers of “Once Upon a Time” likely raised their eyebrows, thinking they had seen this soon to be sultry star somewhere before. Indeed their ponderings were on the mark, as while James Dornan may be a stranger to many, he is well known to devotees of “Once Upon a Time” as the dearly departed Sheriff Graham.

Before the evil Regina crushed is heart in her fist, instantly causing his demise and exit from the show, Sheriff Graham was, not surprisingly, a bit of a ladies man on “Once Upon a Time.” Viewers saw him crawling out of Regina’s bed while Emma was developing feelings for him as well. But alas, the love fans thought was beginning to bloom between Sheriff Graham and Emma was cut woefully short by his death, though many fans likely still held out hope that with magic, anything is possible and he may someday return.

Now that James Dornan (Sheriff Graham) has landed the high profile role of Christian Grey, does that rule out a possible comeback on “Once Upon a Time”? Not necessarily. While if the movie is as popular as the book, there will no doubt be movies made of the remainder of the novels in the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ series. However if the movie fails to live up to its hype, perhaps James Dornan will find himself in need of work, and consider a return to “Once Upon a Time.” Fans of the television series would without doubt be delighted!
