The web is full of agendas, propaganda and advertisements – all disguised as news. All designed to brainwash you into quietly falling into line with their social and political agendas. All designed to sell you their products and beliefs. All designed to make someone else richer and more powerful. Every written article on the internet has a purpose. If the purpose is not to make a profit, then it usually has a social or political agenda. Keep in mind that nowadays only a very small percentage of news is solely designed to inform people of current affairs. Most of it is designed to sell some liberal’s agenda or brainwash the conservative mind into slowly thinking he is the last person standing alone on a sinking island.
For decades most older and informed readers have realized that the majority of newspapers and news organizations are owned and run by liberals. Unfortunately, the liberal press exposes the young and naive to be especially susceptible to their influence. Yet even those knowing the truth about the liberal press can often be influenced gradually over time through the subtleties of words. If you don’t want to be manipulated by others’ agendas, here are a few suggestions you should carefully follow to be sure that you are not easily misled or suckered by their constant barrage of propaganda.
Value your own opinion. Don’t conform easily. Don’t concede to the opinion of the crowd, as that crowd is often only a mirage, painted in your mind by the author of the material you are reading.
Always consider the source of what you are reading. Always look at the author’s credentials and previous writings to better understand their agenda, then analyze their potential motives and re-consider the value of what you just read.
Use common sense. 1) If an article is obviously supporting some liberal viewpoint, then keep in mind any facts and statistics quoted should be checked and verified before being blindly accepted. Chances are the sources used are often as liberal as the writer. I have often found material quoted widely across the net that has no foundation in reality. 2) If it sounds too good to be true or too easy to do, then it probably is. In these cases you should look for what is omitted. 3) The truth is usually found in the middle when there are gray areas of conflict, so you will need to use your common sense to determine the true facts when a particular article touches on such material. 4) Not all liberal supporters use frontal assault when presenting their viewpoint. Even though an article may appear objective, be sure to check all facts and statistics. Keep in mind, since the majority of news services are liberal; the majority of all data presented is somewhat tainted by their agenda.
Always look for what is omitted. It is often what is omitted from an article that reveals the truth about questionable content. Thus you need to look at what is missing, at holes in their logic, at counter-arguments that might exist, or potential issues that are completely ignored or overlooked. A good way to find what is missing is to read the conservative viewpoint that can only be found on a handful of conservative or religious websites.
Watch out for trolls. “What are trolls?” you ask. An online troll is someone who abuses his right to comment on articles. Most frequently we hear of trolls in regard to negative, abusive, and hateful speech. However there are other trolls that are equally dangerous, those who frequently comment on a particular article or subject in hopes of changing the average person’s perception of certain issues and agendas. This type of troll often tries to make it appear to the average reader that those who are commenting are evenly divided on a particular issue. They do this by commenting repeatedly and by giving thumbs up to people who support their view and thumbs down to everyone who don’t.
If you go to political articles you can find political trolls who share 10 or 20 comments, all on the same article. If you go to any article that says something derogatory about China, you can find the Chinese government’s operatives who are defending their actions while trying to appear as an American (their broken English always gives them away). The fact is there are trolls working for every government, even our own; and there are trolls working hard to gather support on both sides of every major issue and agenda. It does not matter if the article is about gay marriage, the legalization of marijuana, the environment, politics, or whatever – there will be trolls. The real question is how many trolls are there and who are they working for most often.
If you frequent a particular news site and pay close attention, you soon will be spotting these trolls. They usually comment repeatedly on the same article or same subject. They can be easily verified as a troll by checking their other comments, when websites have this feature. A thousand comments a month, all supporting one issue and view, make a troll easy to spot once you know to look for them. Many thousands, or even ten thousand comments, probably means the troll is actually a paid job position or possibly even computer software.
My current concern is now is trying to discern what percentage of these trolls are just individual activists, what percentage are paid positions, what percentage may be computer software, and what percentage are working on each side of a particular issue. I would love to know what my readers’ experiences and thoughts are on this subject. The more I have looked into the issue of trolls, the more I realize we are losing our country to a handful of busy trolls and activists, people who more frequently than not support the minority opinion.
Don’t be manipulated by statistics. Check the facts and check the statistics yourself. Statistics are often quoted from biased sources or obtained by pollsters asking leading questions. This is especially true when it comes to political issues. Even when statistics are quoted from supposedly unbiased sources, statistics can easily be manipulated or laid out in certain ways to support a certain view. Keep in mind, that statistics from the same source can often be used to support either side of most hotly contested issues. So to see the complete picture on any issue that concerns you, you must do your own research. You must look at specific questions that are asked and who they are asking. You must check various sources, especially the opponents view, as the truth is normally found somewhere in the middle when it comes to competing statistics. This is the only way to be certain that your mind is not being manipulated by others.
In fact, to prove my point on this issue, I challenge you to do your own poll. Ask 25 friends if they think Snowden is a hero or a traitor. Then to get a more complete picture of their true opinion, ask them if he should be prosecuted or not and to what degree. In fact, if you want to get an even better understanding of America’s true opinion about Snowden, ask the ones who say he is an outright traitor if he deserves to be executed. Common sense tells us that a true traitor should be executed every time, yet even those who call him a traitor will be very divided on this issue, granting various amounts of leniency to him depending on the strength of their conviction. Try to be fair and get a good mix of people.
I know for a fact that this poll experiment will make a lot of you more skeptical of what you read online, as the liberal press supports Obama and only prints political polls that show him in the best light possible; and the truth is the government has no incentive to tell us the true facts, as they fear conservative America might rise up against them if the people understood the truth. According to what we are told, our country is very evenly divided on this issue; so please let me know what enlightening results you get.
The truth is when you do your own poll like this, you will be putting your own finger on the pulse of America and your understanding of the issue and its complexities will improve dramatically. The fact is Snowden has some level of support from the vast majority of Americans. Half of Americans outright think Snowden is a hero, with a very large percent of his opponents feeling he deserves some degree of leniency (most likely caused by their own dissatisfaction with our government and politicians). Yet the majority of Americans are now sitting apathetically on the sidelines, blinded by the liberal press into believing that America is very evenly divided on this issue. The failure of conservatives to take action on such issues as this is what has allowed the liberals and the U.S. government to continue to steal our constitutional rights and liberties inch by inch through governmental creep.
Hold strong to your core beliefs. Don’t easily change your core values based on what you read online. Don’t allow individuals or groups to try to make you think you are the minority or guilt you into thinking you are a racist or a hater for certain religious or conservative viewpoints that you may hold. It is not you that is the hater, it is the liberals. They hate your ethics and principles, as their consciences are condemned by the moral superiority of the conservative.
Make sure your kids understand the facts about online propaganda. Make sure you discuss these issues about online reading with your children, so they can enter the world with open eyes and be strong enough to stand up for the family values you have instilled in them.
Be a voice for what you believe. I encourage all Americans to stand for their core beliefs. Don’t be afraid to speak out. Your vote still has value, but only if you believe it counts.
Yet most importantly, don’t believe everything you read, as this country is not as even divided as the liberal press claims it to be. It is not too late yet to save our country, as most of the liberals’ socialist agendas are not supported by a majority of American voters … well, at least not yet.
