About The Author:
Shawntay A. Rivers have been “writing to live” since her therapist handed a journal after being raped in her early teen years. When Shawntay was a child she wrote as a child but as an adult with God on her side she writes with a whole new purpose. Shawntay A. Rivers is a single mother of five children who she affectionately refers to as “The Fantastic 5”. She made her love affair with God public on February 14, 2010 by getting baptized. Shawntay loves to write and been told that she has the ability to make someone look like a monster when she puts them on paper; she attempts to rebut this statement by only writing the things necessary to show opposition, growth, and/or strength in her stories. She admits that when she was a child she only wrote because she thought that keeping the true horror of her life locked inside would destroy her. She did not share her stories as a child because she did not know how to do so in a loving way. Now she writes with the purpose of drawing others into their own relationship with God by revealing her painful past experiences and testifying about how God’s love, mercy, and favor brought her through it all, each and every time. Some would place Shawntay’s stories in the Christian genre but she aspires to transcend genre labels, and the stigmata many associated with self-publishing.

Listen To The Whispers Book Review:
As human beings, I am very sure that you realized that in this world is filled with all kinds of corruption. By being a parent you will do your best to protect your children from being victims of it. As parents you are very proactive in the fight against bullying. Make sure that you protect your children from sex offenders that you are aware of. Nobody doesn’t want their precious angels do things, or go places where they could be injured. Also don’t want their son or daughter to be pressured into bad behavior. So the best thing for parents to do is to forbid certain things. Most parents will not allow their children to sleep over or even play at the homes of families they don’t know well. Most of them will not allow their children to attend parties where there is no adult chaperone present. You will make sure that your children confide in you if someone touches them inappropriately. You will do whatever you need to do in order to protect your precious children from harm, danger and hurt that you will even take precautions in your own love lives. You want to make sure to be very careful in choosing the right mate. According to the Domestic Violence Statistics that every 9 seconds in the United States a woman is being assaulted Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime. Most of the time, the abusers are a member of her own family. Every day in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends. Men who, as children witnessed their parents’ domestic violence were twice as likely to abuse their own wives than sons of nonviolent parents. This book “Listen To The Whispers” came to birth after the Author has experienced domestic violence of her own from ex husband. I can imagine this was a difficult task for Shawntay to write about but with the guidance from God, she is able to share her story with others. She dealt with rape, being in a toxic relationship, domestic violence and the backlash from her ex husband’s family. She decided to write the story about her pain and tribulations to help others who also dealing with domestic violence as well. Not only that she had to deal with domestic violence from her ex but she also found out that he was unfaithful as well. She was having a hard time struggling with her turbulent past. Mykael’s dark secret affected Shawntay in a big way. She learned that he was secretly watching her daughter while taking a shower. Her daughter felt very uncomfortable around him. She really blames herself for bringing him into their lives. What hurt Chaunte the most is that she kept on forgiving Mykael for his wrongdoings. God has been sending His whisper to count through her friends but she ignores them at first.
This book has so many life lessons that you can learn from. The one lesson that stuck with me was the following message. “That if you have children, you must be careful who you let in your household.” Shawntay make sure that her family was going to be protected no matter what. She was thinking about her kids and she wanted to protect them from harm. Last month there were several news reports that a child was killed, assaulted by their mother’s boyfriend or husband who is not the child’s father. This book is a wake up call for everyone. Usually there are signs of their bad behaviors but most of the time we ignore the warning. The author wants to make sure what she went through that no other parents doesn’t have to go down that same viral path. Even though this book was written to minister to women but men can also benefit from reading this book as well. All men are not abusers at all, some are victims of domestic violence as well. I do recommend that everyone read this book for yourself. This book is a perfect for meetings such as book clubs, support groups, Ministries at Churches that deals with domestic violence. This book of testimony can help someone right now to change their ways and thinking. You don’t have to be a victim or an abuser. The Children always the one that ends up suffering from domestic violence. I pray that this book will minister to someone right now. God will send you a whisper through somebody that really care about you. It is really up to you to listen to His whisper. Thank You Shawntay Rivers for sharing your story with us. I am so glad that you were able to get out of that toxic relationship. God has you in His safety for your protection.
