Wait until your family sees what you fixed as dessert for Valentine’s Day! They won’t believe their eyes when they see decadent pastries that you prepared just for them. Whether you make all of the pastries the same, or you make each one a different flavor than the others, you and your family will appreciate the dessert for this Valentine’s Day more than any other.
Have you ever worked with puff pastry? It’s found at the grocery store in the frozen pie crust area. The pastry dough is exactly what you need to make the Valentine heart pastries for the holiday. Purchase the pastry and then let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. That will make it easy to roll and otherwise handle the pastry.
Roll out the pastry and use a large, heart-shaped cutter to cut the desserts. You’ll need two hearts for each serving. After cutting them, bake them as noted on the package, and then you can proceed to fix them up the way that you like.
There are many different ways to prepare the Valentine’s Day pastry puffs. Set one heart shape in a bowl and then top it with what you want. You could put in ice cream, whip cream, and many other foods, to make the exact treats that you want. Top with the second heart and drizzle, if you want, with sauce or flavored syrup.
You’ll create the best heart pastries if you cut the bottoms of the hearts to be thicker than the tops. Also, it can be helpful to remove a few pieces of the dough – after it’s baked – from the middle of the bottom heart. That will create more of a cup than a flat surface for spooning in the specific treats. Also, when you bake the pastry tops, use the sides that touch the baking sheet as the tops of the finished desserts.
You could put pudding in the cup with the heart pastries, make ones with pie filling, or spread Nutella, melted chocolate, or other goodies on them. There are many combinations, too, such as pudding and whip cream, pudding with chocolate chips, or fresh fruit and ice cream.
There are other things that you can do with the heart pastries, including cutting the top hearts smaller, so that the goodies are bulging out of the sides, or cutting heart shapes out of the top crusts so that the inside goodies can be seen. The heart pastries are definitely perfect for Valentine’s Day, whether you’re serving the family, or you’re having a huge party.
