Get ready South Florida a powerhouse is heading our way. I’m not talking about a hurricane or other natural phenomenon. America’s ‘toughest trainer’ and fitness guru Jillian Michaels is bringing her Maximize Your Life tour to the James L. Knight Center for one rabblerousing inspirational evening April 20, 2013. Okay, maybe it won’t be a rowdy gathering but if you know anything about Michaels then you’re aware she’s far from subtle. Her speak her mind and kick butt attitude is a huge part of her success.
Fitness trainer, author, TV personality (The Biggest Loser, Losing It with Jillian), numerous talk show appearances (she’s all over the place), podcast, twitter, Facebook, entrepreneur (various fitness products include DVD’s, equipment, supplements) and now public speaker; how many hats can one person wear? If you’re Michaels, all of the above and more apply. Add new mom of two children (with her partner Heidi Rhoades) to the list and you’ve got one busy lady.
Imagine, Believe, Achieve; that’s what it’s all about for the 39 year old, 115 lb, 5’02 (I love that part, she’s my height) larger than life personality. Following the release of her latest best selling book Slim for Life: My Insider Secrets to Simple, Fast, and Lasting Weight Loss (which is a great read and has a great deal of information that surprised me) it appears to have been Michaels’ idea to take her message directly to the people. However if you’re going to this show expecting to find the screaming, killer trainer from The Biggest Loser you’re going to be disappointed. Michaels goal with this tour is to open herself up to a more intimate and personal setting. After all, this is her first time live on stage in this format.
Judging by her personal and professional endeavors she’s the perfect person to take this on. Expect her to share her keys to health, happiness and success. As she has said “No hype, no false promises, just results.”
The Maximize Your Life Tour will run through April and May and will cover 34 U.S. cities including Canada. She has via Twitter and Facebook sent out invitations to her fans to join her on stage for a more personal face-to-face encounter. No, I haven’t signed up; I don’t have that much chutzpah but it should be interesting to be a part of. Michaels herself is looking forward to the challenge and speaks of the tour this way, “That one-on-one direct connection, looking people in the eye in an unfiltered, unedited way, and being able to see the little light bulb go over their head and watch their expressions as they begin to really grasp the information you’re sharing with them. You get off the stage and you’re just going, this is so amazing. There’s nothing like it. And you can’t get that in TV or in books or in DVD’s.”
So South Florida what do you say? Let’s show Ms. Michaels what we’re really made of. It’s not all about glamour, shopping and South Beach. Let’s maximize our lives and join Jillian at the Tickets are available at
