#1- Kansas City Royals
Spring training this year has been an eye-opening experience. The Kansas City Royals have been playing with a purpose. Off to an 11-0 start, they will surely be on my list of teams to watch going into the regular season.
#2- Sergio Romo
Romo is definitely on my must-watch list this year. Nobody wants to hit against this guy’s slider. And his back-door fastball is one of the best in the league. The San Francisco Giants needs to be careful this year. They should save Romo for tough games and count on the rest of the bullpen to win games. Especially early in the season.
#3- Bryce Harper
Harper plays for the Washington Nationals and was the No. 1 draft pick in 2010. I look forward to what we might see out of this young player as he grows with the team, and as a player.
#4- Josh Hamilton
Hamilton, with three Silver Slugger awards under his belt, it’s no wonder he has made my top 10 list. I am interested in seeing him play even more now that he is with the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels will likely post more runs on the board than any other team this year with their smart move to sign Hamilton.
#5- Ryan Raburn
Everyone likes to see home runs. One of the top home-run sluggers for spring training has been Ryan Raburn. He plays second base and left field. The Cleveland Indians are happy to have him on the team. Hopefully he can keep up the good work in the regular season.
#6- Boston Redsox or Washington Nationals
Does Boston have what it takes to clinch the title of best bullpen in baseball this year? I would like to find out. The Washington Nationals certainly do. I hope to see more no-hitters and perfect games this year. Preferably from one of these two teams.
#7- The Streakers
Baseball always has its crazy moments. I hope this year we don’t have to see a naked guy run around with “YOLO” painted on his chest. Come on, people! Be more creative.
#8- Players charging the mound
Now I know this doesn’t happen every game, but it should. When was the last time you were bored watching a game where a batter went after a pitcher?
#9- Coaches getting thrown from the game
YOU’RE OUTTA HERE! Everyone loves to see their team’s manager get thrown from a game. Bobby Cox is a legend because of how many games he has been thrown out of. I hope this year brings a few ejections our way.
#10- Nothing beats going to a game
The warm summer air. The smell of hot dogs and beer. Peanuts under your shoes and in your teeth. The sound of a home run and the joy of catching one. Knowing that you are a part of America’s favorite pastime.
Baseball is more than a game to us fans. It breathes, has a pulse, and it feels. It is a living creature.
Joshua Edgar played baseball all through his youth. His favorite position was pitcher. Joshua has continued to follow the game and wears a Boston Redsox hat to this day.
