My Great Spring Cleaning Project: Three Cleaning Products that Really Work

by fat vox

I remember my Mother taking “everything” out of our house as a part of what she called Spring Cleaning. Every single item went outdoors piece by piece, one room at a time. The walls and floors were scrubbed, the cabinets were washed, and before an item could go back into the house it too had to be washed. While I may not be as obsessively aggressive about spring cleaning as my Mom, I do go through a heavy duty cleaning and cleaning out of my house every year. Last spring I remodeled my bedroom and the master bath. This year I plan on painting the living room, dining room, and kitchen as part of my spring cleaning project.

As I carry out my spring cleaning this time I plan to do like my Mom did and remove everything from the rooms as I prepare them for painting. Then just like my mother I’ll clean everything as I put it back in its place. I have purchased several large plastic tubs to store everything in until I am ready to put the rooms back together. Last year I didn’t do this and my whole house was a disaster until I finished remodeling the bedroom and bath. The tubs are not very expensive I think I paid like $3 dollars each for mine at a yard sale but you can buy them new at almost any dollar store for less than $10 dollars each.

I have also discovered three new cleaning products that I plan to use as I return each item back to its original or new place. Actually they are not new at all just new to me but boy do they work.

  • · Mean Green – This stuff is great for cleaning tough dirt and stains (Even on laundry) I use it to clean the extra dirty places on the walls before I paint like around light switches and door knobs.
  • · Mr. Clean with Febreze “New Zealand Springs” – Fill a bucket with water add ¼ of a cup of this cleaner and enjoy the scent of New Zealand Springs for days. I wash everything with this: walls, trim, doors, furniture, shoes, what-knots, the whole nine yards.
  • · Scott’s Liquid Gold – This is the final touch it is a wood cleaner and preservative, and it smells great. The best part is you can take and old piece of furniture or picture frame and make it look like new again.

I haven’t begun my spring cleaning for this year yet or I would show before and after pictures. However, I can show before pictures now and after pictures in my next article. What I can do is a before and after using the Scott’s Liquid Gold just to give you an idea of how good it really works. Too bad I can’t do a scratch and sniff on here for the Mr. Clean. Until next time happy Spring Cleaning!
