“On The Rise” is a new reality television show created by B.J. Rouse that features three professional black women as they go about their everyday lives and chronicles events that take place on a daily basis. “On The Rise” will be a “down to earth” reality show that will allow viewers an inside peek into what these three busy women deal with in their professional careers and private lives during their downtime at home. It is not your ordinary reality television show. “On The Rise” is currently filming and set to debut in early March.
The stars of “On The Rise” are Misee Harris, a pediatric dentist, model and actress from Columbia, Tn.; Fawn Stone, an inspiring actress from Los Angeles, Ca.; and Lakesha Yvette Walker, a screenwriter from Graceville, Fl.
What do all three of these women have in common with such diverse professional careers? The answer is simple-they are all single and have a strong desire to succeed in life. Each of the women featured in “On The Rise” are go-getters and work from dawn to midnight on various charitable activities, work, or other projects that tug at their hearts. In other words they are very outgoing individuals, have strong personalities and are on an overall mission to be successful in everything they do in life.
What makes this trio of successful women so interesting? Harris, Stone and Lakesha do not give up. They strive for perfection and have confidence in themselves to succeed. They are also friends. Viewers will be able to see how these women interact not only in the workplace, but in their down-time to how they rely on each other for support in their everyday lives or just enjoying a girl’s night out.
If you are looking for inspiration in life, your professional career or in obtaining your dreams, “On The Rise” will give you the needed confidence to put your plan into action. These three young women have so much drive and ambition, yet compassion in their hearts to also reach out and support non-profit organizations to make a difference in the lives of others.
Meet the Stars
Misee Harris – Misee is actually a doctor, specifically a pediatric dentist in real life who stays busy with her own dental practice in Columbia, Tn. She has recently developed a new athletic mouthpiece for children and adults called ProFit Athletic Mouthguard. This new endeavor has been keeping her working overtime in her dental lab due to the demand for the product. She also gives back to the community by treating children from low income families through her Project Smile organization. Misee is also active in modeling and is an inspiring actress too! She is always on the go and always has a smile on her face.
Fawn Stone – Fawn is a native from Los Angeles, Ca. who attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. Fawn returned to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career and just loves to be in front of a camera. You might say that Fawn’s trademark is her heels, as she has proven to be a shoe lover—especially if they are high heels! In her spare time, Fawn volunteers her services with inner-city children and incarcerated youth in the Los Angeles area.
Lakesha Yvette Walker – Lakesha is a screenwriter from Florida, but she has traveled the world with her family since her dad was in the military while she was growing up. Lakesha is down to earth and considered the one that is the most “grounded” of the three, but you would never guess that if you knew she specialized in writing comedy! Lakesha also runs her very own production company, La Fille de Cacao Entertainment. She loves to stay in shape, dance, blog and participate in The Candid Confessional, a monthly event she started just for writers, poets, actors, directors, musicians, etc. get together to take charge of their “confessions.” Whatever you find Lakesha doing, you can count on it being fun!
Meet the Producer
B.J. Rouse is an award-winning independent filmmaker who is working on several new projects in 2014 through her production company Rouse House Entertainment.
In creating “On The Rise,” Rouse wanted to give the public a new kind of reality television show that did not dwell on unreasonable situations and “over the top drama.” Her vision was to create a reality television show that focused on real people that are successful in life-something that she could relate to.
“On The Rise” will take you through Misee, Fawn and Lakesha’s daily lives and lets you see how these three ladies keep the drive in their spirits each day, but also lets you see how they can also let loose and have a good time.
Rouse promises that “On The Rise” is not your ordinary reality television show; it’s down to earth and showcases the lives of three successful black women that are determined to make their dreams come true, over and over again.
Release Date for “On The Rise”
“On The Rise” began filming at the beginning of the year (2014) and is set to premiere in early March of this year. According to Rouse, the producer of the show, if “On The Rise” is not picked up by a television network, it will air on its own website (being designed now) and YouTube with mini episodes.
Preliminary statistics from a January news release about the concept of the show and photos of Harris, Stone and Walker received a good response from the public. While other reality television shows are all about dramatic divas or just horribly scripted, “On The Rise” will be a show that you will be able to relate to and inspire you to always “reach for the stars.” The feedback received so far on “On The Rise” indicates that the public is ready for reality television to take a different direction like Rouse predicted and promises to deliver in “On The Rise.”
