More than like ants and elephants, or whales and lions, human are social beings which cannot live without interacting with one another. The world is just so big that its space is still wide enough for all human beings and animals to inhabit. But then because we are always in need of social interactions, the world becomes smaller and it always happens maybe for some reasons that we bump into someone who sometimes becomes part of our existence.
Some people we met by accident, some by coincidence, some by our choices, some by fate, some by grabbed opportunities and some by someone who leads us to them. Some reasons can be easily understood, yet others cannot be explained by the theory of magnetism or chain reaction, or with the position of the stars in the galaxy.
We were not born to be blind judges to others. We were not even given this only one chance to be born just to do what pleases others. We were born to be ourselves, and not to learn how to pretend to be like someone else. It’s up to other people if they remain blind to see us shining, or open their eyes and mock us while watching us fall and slowly fade, and gloat over while we break down and cry. Everybody has differences, but far from a distance, we are just the same. We are but a mere dust dirtied our own heart that was once pure, because it was always hard to be perfect.
Some people are happy just hearing things on the grapevine, and neglect to seek the truth, or believe easily without even thinking, and never even trying to see and appreciate the beauty and uniqueness that was present in each person. We need to at least understand how each individual was intricately designed by the one who created us, that each of us has given a talent, a capacity for wisdom, an ability to love, an intense desire to worship to salvage our dying immortal soul.
We all have future, and we are designing it today. Our future is not just meant for ourselves. We prepare it for someone special and important to us – our family, our loved ones, our children, and our children’s children. We all have dreams, and we wish that one day they all come true. This dreams serve as our inspiration that’s why we work hard, and that’s why we still want to try harder even we are already tired, knowing that one day we could stop, sit back and relax, and behold, admire the wonderful design of the trail that we blazed to reach the summit.
We are not animals. We are human and we have the sense of what is right and what is wrong. We feel good when we did something right. And we are bothered by our conscience if what we did was wrong. We are not perfect but why we still justify even if we know that we are already wrong? Yes, we are human, and something that we cannot simply swallow is our pride, even though we know that we are already hurting others. Let us just be reminded that “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
There is a certain reason why we meet someone in our life. We may not view it in a positive way, maybe because of competition, insecurities, false instinctual reactions, personal/ behavioral or cultural differences, and influence of others. But we should not easily judge and rely only on others’ opinions about a person. We simply don’t know who they are, or understand what they are going through, what is their purpose in our life, why we met them along our journey, or at the crossroad. Whoever they are, let’s just simply say, “It’s nice to meet you…” and let’s go on with our life, and let them live their own…
