One of the ‘Original Kings of Comedy’ Cedric the Entertainer will be making a stop with his live show at Hard Rock Live Seminole Casino in Hollywood, FL July 18, 2013.
Cedric’s career successes not only include his incredibly funny stand-up but has crossed over into television, novelist and film; making him one of the most sought after performers in the Entertainment industry.
Recently named the new host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (he will be replacing Meredith Vieira) the long running game show which is in its 12th season of syndication. There is no end to Cedric’s worldwide appeal and there seems to be nothing the man can’t do. Last year, his new comedy series The Soul Man debuted on TV Land, spinning off his Hot in Cleveland character “Reverend Boyce ‘The Voice’ Ballentine”. The Reverend is a former R&B music star turned minister; a perfect fit for Cedric’s personality and persona. The show is currently in production for its second season.
He has also appeared in such notable hit films as Barbershop & Barbershop 2, Be Cool, the Madagascar franchise, Intolerable Cruelty, Johnson Family Vacation (the 2004 box office hit in which Cedric was both star and producer), and The Original Kings of Comedy (MTV’S phenomenally successful documentary feature directed by Spike Lee). The Kings included Cedric, Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley and the late Bernie Mack; the show was a non-stop laugh fest where Cedric penned his famous line, “I’m a grown a** man.” The four were truly the best of the best stand-up men at that time. He’s also co-starred in A Haunted House and Larry Crowne, as well as shared the marquee in Cadillac Records, Street Kings, Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins, Talk to Me, Codename: The Cleaner, The Honeymooners (in which he starred as Jackie Gleason’s famed character “Ralph Cramden”), Lemony Snicket, Man of The House, Big Momma’s House, Kingdom Come and Serving Sara, in addition to displaying tremendous vocal talent in the family features Charlotte’s Web, Dr. Doolittle 2 and Ice Age. He will next lend his voice to Disney’s Planes in theaters August 2013. Let’s face it, the guy’s been busy.
But it is his comedy stand-up that’s bringing him to Hard Rock Live. Cedric’s first-ever HBO Comedy Special, Cedric the Entertainer: Taking You Higher, was the highest rated special of 2006 for the network. Two years later, he made his critically acclaimed Broadway debut in David Mamet’s masterpiece American Buffalo. Notable accolades for his work include the AFTRA Award of Excellence in Television Programming for his Fox Television series “Cedric The Entertainer Presents…” and a record-breaking four consecutive NAACP Image Awards for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series” for his portrayal of the lovable “Coach Cedric Robinson” on the WB’s #1-rated The Steve Harvey Show, which ran for six seasons. He’s also the recipient of the 1996 Richard Pryor Comic of the Year Award from Black Entertainment Television (BET) for his ground-breaking work as host of Def Comedy Jam and BET’s Comic View (1994-95). His first humorous book entry, Grown-Ass Man, was released in January of 2002 and sold out across the country.
I for one am really looking forward to seeing one of the Kings live on stage for the first time. This is going to be wild time with one of the funniest men in comedy today. For more information of this show visit the following web sites:
