Filler for the cones, such as popcorn, flowers or mini muffins
It doesn’t matter what type of party or celebration you’re having; if you need party favors, you can make them by using paper cones. The favors can be candy, flowers, or even popcorn, but when you put them in cones, and then attach the cones to sticks, you create magnificent favors that everyone will remember for years to come. If you’re celebrating a birthday, having a baby shower, or bringing people together for a wedding, the cones are the solution to the party favor need. You can make them to look ordinary, or you can really dress them up, depending on what you like for your party.
Paper cones are not expensive nor are they difficult to make. Craft your own by curling scrapbook or other paper into a cone shape. Or, buy white paper cones, made for adding oil to your car, and use them. The cones are inexpensive whether you buy them or make them. It’s easy to create a theme when you use scrapbook paper. It has pictures of everything from flowers, to babies, to travel scenes. But if you’re using automotive cones, they’re almost always white, and there are many ways to decorate them. Use markers, decorative tape, or glitter glue.
To put each cone on a stick, purchase small-diameter wooden dowels, and insert them into the cones. Snip the tip off of each cone and have the dowels cut to the sizes that you want for handles. Slide a stick into the tip of each cone, wrap the end of the stick (the end that’s inside the cone) with decorative tape, and lower it back into the cone bottom. The tape, when wrapped several times around the dowel end, will prevent the stick from sliding out. Wrap tape around the cone and dowel to secure one to the other.
Tie a ribbon around each cone, at the tip, to conceal the area where the stick meets the cone point. A Styrofoam block will help you stand the cones up during the party. Guests can each take one as they leave. The cones can hold popcorn, flowers, candy, doughnut holes, mini muffins, small stuffed animals, or other things.
It’s nice to know that, no matter what type of party you’re having, you’ll be able to make your own party favors for little money, and without much investment of time. Your guests will love the thoughtful gifts, in paper cones, no matter what they are.
