Every person has experienced a stomach disorder at a point or another in his or her lifetime. You cannot clearly explain what discomfort you are having until you undergo a laboratory test .The stomach faces many diseases that need identification before taking any drug to enable the body to respond positively to those medication administered to avoid resistance. I have never trained as a doctor or a nurse but I`m a victim of peptic ulcers that almost ended my life. I`m able to tell a person complaining of stomach disorder if it is an ulcer or any other ailment. I have advised many as per their complain and I have seen fruits the way I saw mine. I met Rabbi, a friend of mine in College seriously sick, thin and vomiting blood. She was complaining of stomach discomfort now and then as she even missed to attend classes. As a friend, I got concerned and tried to question what was the really the course of the problem. Without hesitating, she gave the story how she broke down with her lovely boyfriend that had interfered with her life. Immediately, I knew the cause and the way forward. I counseled this woman now and then and before my Graduation, Rabbi was fine, `good`- looking, fat and at the moment, she has no peptic ulcers.
An ulcer is an open wound on the upper part of the small intestine commonly known as Duodenum. As a victim, an ulcer is commonly acquired by our lifestyles. The way we live, what we eat or take directly affects our stomach positively or negatively. For instance, if you get stressed, you change your entire body leading to production of excessive acids that pour on the open wound leading to this disease. Smoking also exposes the body to acquire this ailment because nicotine in it makes the stomach to produce many acids. Taking acidic foods also contributes to it.
Before I knew that I had peptic ulcers, I used to complain of stomach discomfort now and then. I felt sharp objects were piercing my stomach, I lost appetite and my body did not function well. This usually occurred in the mornings and in the evenings and when my stomach was empty. I suffered from nausea feelings and hiccups now and then. I did not vomit blood that is a serious sign as my friend Rabbi did, but what surprised me most, Is my stool that came out black resembling that of a goat and in the same shape and design.
I visited many hospitals to meet different doctors. Physical examination, family history and medication given before are mandatory questions asked by doctors. Blood test for H. `”pyloric”` bacteria that is a cause for an ulcer is. In addition to that, breath test proves if these bacteria is present. Apart from that, Doctors do an X-ray on the upper gastrointestinal series. To proof if this peptic ulcer is present, you drink a whitish liquid known as the barium. If the test is positive, the X-ray shows an outline. The Doctor repeats this until he proves the disease is over.
In my case, I took several antacids until my body developed resistant. No antacid cooled the situation. Depending on the level of the acid in the body, you take antacids in two or more months to heal the ulcer. Secondly, Antibiotics are taken daily for two weeks to kill the H. “pyloric” bacteria.
H. “pyloric” bacteria transmission is from person to person but doctors have not explained how. These bacteria are found in saliva, meaning sharing of saliva is risky if is a victim. Also found in food, water and when you get in touch with an infected person with the bacteria and vomiting. As per now, i`m well. First, I have known how to manage stress initially I never knew. Secondly, I have changed my way of living. It is advisable to practice personal hygiene after visiting the bathroom, before eating food and do regular exercises. Also avoid too much spiced foods and have enough rest and sleep.
