For some pet parents who dress up their pet regularly Halloween is just another day to show off just how cute your pet is, but for some this simple task may prove to be added pressure. Here are 5 unique pet costume suggestions to help you narrow your list. There is even a suggestion for bargain hunters; below you will learn how to make a pumpkin costume for your pet by using items already in your home. In addition, there are cat friendly costumes on this list as well!
1.) Canine Supergirl
If your dog is naturally heroic this will be the ideal costume. This costume should fit properly onto your pet, and allow for easy potty access. Furthermore, these bright colors and shiny material will also make it easy to see her if you take her with you on the town as you trick or treat. 2.) Canine Christmas Elf
This title may sound silly and this costume will definitely look silly as you pet tour the streets with an elf costume on. In the same fashion, this costume should also fit your pets body frame properly, however, be sure to keep your pet close because these colors and material may be difficult to see when dark outside. 3.) Feline Sailor
This costume is appropriate for many cats especially when you take into consideration how much they like seafood. This is a great costume for your cat particularly if they are fussy about wearing clothes. Only two small items makeup this costume, they are brightly colored and very easy potty access. 4.) Feline Cowboy
This has to be one of the best costumes on this list, and it’s so cute how there is a little cowboy attached to the saddle of the costume. This costume is great for a number of reasons it will not hinder your cats movement, it should fit your cat properly, allow for easy potty access, and it will not hinder you being able to see your pet in low light. You can find this costume in-store at Petco http://www.petco.com/product/120207/Petco-Cowboy-Halloween-Cat-Costume.aspx?CoreCat=MegaHalloween .
5.) Owner Made Pumpkin Costume
You will need: a bright orange shirt, a dark green shirt, 2-4 large towels, material glue, needle, thread, black marker, and 24 hours drying time.
In this economy not everyone has extra to buy pet costumes, so I thought of this costume so no pet will be left out this Halloween. Take the towels and stuff them inside the orange shirt, sew only the very ends of the towel to the edge of the shirt. You should already see the shirt taking on pumpkin like roundness. Next, on the back side of the shirt with the black marker draw 2 triangles for the eyes and a design for the mouth of the pumpkin, don’t forget to color them in! Next, pumpkins have a little green around the pumpkin top, take the green shirt and cut leaf like shapes and glue them above the eyes closer to the neck of the shirt. Allow 24 hours drying time. This costume is great because it’s bright, easy potty access, it’s celebratory of Halloween, and no cost.
As shown above, there are many do’s and do not’s when putting material on animals. So, when you are out shopping for epic pet costumes remember to make sure it’s properly sized, it does not cover or hinder sensitive areas on your pet’s body, and there is nothing on the costume your pooch can choke on.
