You’re ready to pop the big question. Everything is in place, from the speech to the perfect location to ask your lady to be yours forever. But there’s one more task that you must brave through to insure the perfect proposal, the physical object that’s supposed to display your everlasting love. The ring. And that won’t be as simple as you think.
Budgeting
It’s not a myth that a man will spend quite a bit for the engagement ring. Budgeting immediately slims down your choices, letting you know how much you can spend. But don’t worry about getting the most expensive ring; the most important thing is the time and effort you put into picking it out.
Finding Her Style
Take note of the jewelry that she wears. Some women prefer gold; others silver or platinum. Others wear their birthstones. A girl’s personality says a lot about what kind of ring would suit her. If she’s outdoorsy, get a ring that doesn’t blemish easily. If she’s more outgoing, a ring with more flash would probably suit her. If she’s more down to earth, get a ring that makes a statement in a more subtle way she’d appreciate.
Bands
Types of bands vary, and your job is to pick one that suits your lady. If your woman is outdoorsy, than a platinum band, which is more durable than gold, may be more suitable. It your lady is into the classics, gold may be the way to go.
The Four C’s
Now that bands are taken care of, it’s time to address the 4 C’s.
Cut. This involves the proportions of the diamond. Color. Diamond color uses a scale, and colorless diamonds are the most expensive. Clarity. The less fractures a diamond has, the better. Carat Weight. Carat is the weight of a diamond. Though being bigger (and heavier) makes a ring more expensive, careful mounting and shaping can make a diamond seem bigger than it is.
Diamond Shape
Another final aspect of rings is the shape of the diamond. A good combination of ring shape and band style can really make the ring pop. Make sure you do this research on this. Again, looking at your lady’s jewelry will certainly assist in this endeavor! Hopefully, I have imparted enough information to give you some insight on what your next few weeks will be like.
Good Luck!
