Give your preschool students a paper on which you have drawn a big outline of the letter M. Instruct your preschoolers to pick up and glue individual pieces of maize (unpopped popcorn) to the letter M.

Native Americans at the time of the first Thanksgiving had beautiful headdresses. Draw an outline of an Indian headdress (or use a printable). Let your preschool students decorate the headdress picture with markers, sequins, pieces of Indian corn and any other small and colorful items that you have available.

Using your preschool classroom felt board, have your students roll a die and then place the appropriate number of felt feathers on the board. If you like, place a thin brown rectangle on the board as a Native American headband. Your preschool students will then add the feathers onto the headband.

Pre-Writing Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Native Americans

For younger students, provide sheets of paper with the letters M and m lightly printed on them. Have the children trace the letters. Do the same with the number 10.

For older students, provide an example of the letters M and m and the number 10. Have the students practice writing the letters and number freehand.
