Living Separate Lives Book Review:
Have you ever wondered how your friends from High School are doing in their daily lives? Are they doing great in their lives financially, relationships, family and career choices? This Christian novella deals with four women: Tiffany, Kaylan, Candance and Jordan who are best friends since High School. Only two of them are married, and three of them are gainfully employed. Each characters have their own story takes the readers on a journey from their past to the present. Paulette Harper written a wonderful book from a Christian perspective. The climate of the story is that Kaylan set up a girlfriend retreat weekend at her home in the Napa Valley Region of California. The setting of this story is well written in the heart -stopping narration and the retreat plans are everything everyone will love to do. Canadians were introduced in Chapter One as she looks back about where her life is in the present and clinch her past with ridicule. Some of you can relate to Candace because sometimes you will put your focus on what you doesn’t have instead of being appreciated for what you do have. One night Kaylan received a phone call from her friend Candace to see if they can meet up in person. They finally saw each other for the first time in a number of years. Candace shares some information with Kaylan about how her life has progressed. This book taught a great lesson about praying to God without worrying about who was looking at them in a public place and just let God guide their minds and souls. They both agree to stay in contact with each other.
Author Paulette Harper Johnson’s writings help us to lead to the right path to our Christian journey. I love the way on how Paulette shows how each of these women clearly demonstrates that particular level of maturity in their faith walk with Jesus Christ. They had formed that special solid friendship of sophisticated mixed emotions inspire with a basic desire to do the right thing. Regardless of their foundations of family, finance and faith vary by considerable degrees. Sooner or later these four ladies have a common goal to support each other through trials and tribulations. I really enjoy reading this book from the beginning to the end. I really felt bad for Candace because her life was just going out of control. To me she was living a negative lifestyle and she blames other people for her downfall. Kaylan really tried to do right by Candace in the Christian way but Candace did something that will hurt all of her friends. This book really dealt with a lot of issues that we all have to deal with in life. This book cover subject as unemployment, betrayals, lies, and anger. Paulette teaches us in this wonderful book dealing with hurt that we must learn to forgive. Even when the person that we love hurt us so badly that we must forgive that person. How are we going to ask God for forgiveness when we can’t forgive others. Forgiveness isn’t never easy but we must go to God in prayer to teach us about forgiveness.
They each will be faced with a challenge in their life and you will go on that journey with them. You will find out in this book what way will they decide to take, the Christian way or the way of the world’s standard of tactics. In the book of “Living Separate Lives” there was not a holier than thou attempt at forgiveness and forget. There were real actions that played out from the four friends. Paulette even shows the importance of a time frame for healing. There weren’t no healing overnight but gives you a realistic look at being a Christian in a painful situation. There is a lot of work that you must put in rather it is in a relationship or asking for forgiveness. Just because you are a Christian that doesn’t mean you aren’t going to deal with hurt and pain. It doesn’t mean that you aren’t going to get angry. It doesn’t mean that you aren’t going to lose control over your life. As Christians you are going to fall but you will be able to get back up. You will be forgiven and experience growth as a Christian. This story has a powerful message that we all can learn from these characters. Again I love the way how Paulette tells this great story. She has pieced together scriptural dialogue into each life of these women without being self-evident. She will guide her readers affectionately through each of these women’s life and their belief system. When all of these ladies are going through their test, we see the real backbone of their personality. This book is definitely perfect for anyone that love to read an awesome Christian novel. You will not be disappointed at all. Once you start to read this book, you will not be able to put this book down.
