Episode to Episode
In each episode the suburban family deals with new situations created by ALF. ALF might destroy a painting or buy a ritzy sports car and then crash it into their garage. He might try toasting freshly caught fish in the toaster, try to grind up a rock in a blender, or add Play-Doh to the hors d’oeuvres.
Sometimes the Tanner’s are unable to deal with ALF’s mischievous and adventurous nature. Yet, they teach him to respect them and their home like good parents do. Further they understand that he is curious about human life and is always exploring new ideas, inventions, and actions.
Despite his crazy ways, including an appetite for cats and other strange delicacies the Tanner’s come to appreciate ALF. After some time they see him as part of their own family and so they must keep his secret.
ALF has the same premise as E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982). ALF is always under the threat of being obtained by a government agency. In this show it is called the Alien Task Force. Throughout the series ALF must always be hidden from the public’s eye, so he is not taken in by that government agency.
ALF features a standup comedian alien from Melmac. ALF’s dialogue is written as a no holds bar, one liner rant of comedic lines that entertain and offend some people in the Tanner’s household. All of the comedy is very tame and it is viewable by all audiences. The ALF costume is realistic enough, and hilarious. He resembles an ant eater combined with a furry mammal that walks upright.
Some episodes feature many of his own race on the planet Melmac, during flashback sequences. The show features many interesting alien facts that ALF teaches his newfound family. The show features a great musical track at the start of the show; it is some great upbeat and entertaining music.
