Did you know your skin and hair care products could be irritating you, even if you’re not aware that it’s happening? If you suffer from chronic pain, it might help to remove these products from your beauty regimen and start using products that are free of chemicals and artificial fragrances.
After suffering a few recurrent urinary tract infections and going through several doses of antibiotics, I still suffered from chronic bladder pain six months later. I had no answers after many doctor visits and numerous tests. By this point, I had tried almost everything under the sun to help relieve the discomfort. Nothing worked.
Even though it helped to modify my diet and remove a lot of food irritants, I noticed that I felt worse every night after showering. I started to suspect that I had a chemical sensitivity. Even though I was using hair products that were free of sulfates, parabens, dyes and numerous other irritants, I noticed that my shampoo and conditioner contained “fragrances”, which could be any combination of chemicals.
After much research, I decided to order BomaSense natural skin and hair care products.
Shampoo and conditioner
The first time I used the BomaSense shampoo, I was caught off-guard by how watery it was and ended up using way too much. And because it is free of sulfate, which is what helps create a lathery foam, it doesn’t lather well. However, if I saturate my hair with water and rub the shampoo in my hands first, I can work up a little lather. The conditioner is thick and creamy, but it actually washes out more easily than commercial conditioners.
My hair feels clean and combs easily after using this shampoo and conditioner. I did go through a short detox period after about a week, when my hair was adjusting to the lack of chemicals, and my hair was greasy just a few hours after showering. This period only lasted about two to three days. If you rinse your hair well and dry completely before sleeping on it, your hair should feel clean as normal.
Body and face wash
The BomaSense face and body wash comes in one bottle, which is nice–I can use one product for my entire body. It is a lot thinner than most face cleansers and shower gels. However, it lathers up and works as well as anything I have ever used. Again, you might go through a detox period as your skin adjusts to the lack of chemicals.
Body and face lotion
Like the other products I received from BomaSense, the face and body lotion is much thinner than the thick, creamy lotions I am used to. You don’t need to use much on your face, and even a little bit makes my face feel very oily. Foundation and oil blotting sheets can help immensely to control the oil.
The lotion absorbs easily into the rest of the body, though, and I find myself using quite a bit to cover it all. Since receiving these products, I have greatly reduced the amount of lotion I use to help it last a little longer. I actually didn’t expect any of these products to last this long, so I’m pleasantly surprised. I have been using BomaSense natural products for about four weeks now, and still have plenty left. You will find that a little goes a long way with all of these products.
Overall, I have to say the BomaSense shaving cream works well. It is like applying a runny lotion to my legs so, unfortunately, I can’t see if I miss a spot. However, even though the cream clogs my razor blades despite frequent rinsing, I am still able to get an incredibly close, smooth shave every time. The numerous oils that make up this shaving cream leave my legs feeling soft, so I can use a very small amount of lotion after shaving.
With shipping, I paid $77 for five bottles of body and hair care products. It seemed a little pricey, since each bottle only contains six to eight ounces, but it was worth every penny. Almost overnight, I felt ninety-nine percent better (I still have to be careful about what I eat). Even if I heal completely, I will still continue using natural body products, and will likely order from BomaSense again.
