The drive from Shreveport, Louisiana, to Atlanta, Georgia, lasted three times longer than it should have, but we knew once we got there, we would be taken care of. Our decision to move to Atlanta was not the big question, it was when, where, and how we were going to find a place to live.
Upon our arrival to Atlanta, it was a mystery where we were going to hang our hats until we found a house. Our pastor went to Expedia.com to find the best hotel deal for at least a 3.5-star hotel for the next few days. Our first great experience with The Crowne Plaza was the fact that we got a three-night stay for only about $180 through Expedia.com.
Our two vehicles pulled into the check-in booth, where we each pulled a parking ticket per vehicle. As I glared at the sign that clearly stated parking was $12 a day, my heart sank. That would be a lot to spend on parking for two vehicles. We were pleased to find out that they only charged us for parking one vehicle for the duration of our stay there. I thought that was awesome customer service.
Do you know how it feels to worry about bringing a pet on a trip? We had no choice, since this was a move and we had to bring our 30-pound boxer, no matter what. Not to mention, we also had to drag along our chirpy green cheek conure and his big bulky cage. This, however, was not an issue for The Crowne Plaza, because they allowed our dog to stay for a nonrefundable $50 fee.
Just a Few Overly Priced Amenities
Do you know what it’s like to want a nice, hot cup of coffee in the middle of the night? I did as I flipped through the room service menu and found the cost of a pot of coffee. I don’t think that I have ever paid more than $5 on a pot of coffee. It’s OK, though, because the coffee was great! We also paid for Internet service at $10 a day so that I could do my homework on my laptop without having to go down to the lobby. Other than that, The Crowne Plaza was great about providing excellent customer service.
Other Amenities and Comfort
There is an exercise room and outdoor pool, but we didn’t get a chance to experience those because we spent our days looking for a house. The beds were very comfortable, and linens smelled great. The Crowne Plaza provided Bath and Body soaps and daily housekeeping services.
I rate this hotel and overall three-day stay a 4 for cleanliness, hospitality, and customer service. It also participates in Green Engage (environmentally friendly service to save costs on energy).
