Restaurants with eating challenges are found wherever there are brave people who either want to show off their eating skills, save money on food with their talent, or even cross something off of their bucket list. Iguana’s Taqueria Burritozilla
If you think you can finish a 18 inch burrito weighing in at 5 pounds, then this challenge is for you. This is a very popular place for nearby college students to hang out, relax, and obtain bragging rights by finishing the Burritozilla. You must purchase the Burritozilla for the challenge, which will cost you $21. The rules are simple for this challenge. All you have to do is finish the oversized burrito in one seating. There are no cash prizes for completing the challenge, but you will get bragging rights and a full stomach. Joey Chestnut, a competitive food eater, finished the Burritozilla in just 3 minutes. Tony and Alba’s Pizza and Pasta Coliseum Challenge
The Coliseum Challenge at Tony and Alba’s Pizza and Pasta can be arranged with the store upon request, or on certain days that they are hosting it. This challenge requires a 4 person team to finish eating a 30 inch pizza within 44 minutes. If you manage to finish the pizza within the allotted time, then the pizza is free. If you don’t manage to complete the challenge, then you will have to pay for the pizza. The only prizes for completing the challenge are bragging rights, recognition on the store’s Twitter page, and a free meal. Make sure to contact the store to make arrangements. Annual Scramblz Pancake Eating Contest
This eating contest is ideal for families! The annual Scramblz Pancake Eating Contest happens on July 4th of every year, and allows people of any age to participate in one of their contests. There is a kids contest for children aged 10 and under and another contest for people who are over the age of 10. In the kids version of the contest, contestants get 5 minutes to eat as many pancakes as they can. In the adult contest, contestants will get 10 minutes to eat as many pancakes as they can. Kids will get kid-sized pancakes and adults will get adult-sized pancakes. Contestants will be allowed to drink water during the contest. To participate in one of the contests, a $5 entry fee, which will go towards charity, must be turned in. The prizes for winning include bragging rights, a photo on Scramblz’s wall of fame and goodies that vary by year. The adult winner in the 2012 competition won a flat screen TV and the child winner won a prize from Toys R Us. In the 2013 year, children who participated and didn’t win were also given a prize for participating. Annual Psycho Donuts Eating Contest
If you have a sweet tooth or a craving for sweets, then the Psycho Donuts Eating Contest is for you. It is scheduled to happen every year the day after National Donut Day, and requires an application to participate. In addition to the application, you must be at least 18 years old to participate. This challenge requires 4 – 5 contestants to finish a 14 inch “donut pizza” as fast as they can. The 14 inch donut is normally enough to serve 8 – 10 people. There is no entry fee and the winner will get bragging rights in addition to some goodies that vary by year. In the 2012 competition, a DVD copy of A Bug’s Life, a Psycho Donuts T-Shirt, and a certificate for a dozen donuts was awarded to the winner. Psycho Donuts has a store in both San Jose and Campbell However, the contest has only occurred at the Campbell location so far. The San Jose location is at 288 S. 2nd Street, San Jose, CA 95113. The Campbell location, which isn’t too far away from the San Jose location (only a 20 minute drive away), is located at 2006 S. Winchester Blvd, Campbell, CA 95008.
