Sausage Product Comparison : Banquet Brown ‘n Serve Original Sausage Links and Jones Dairy Farm All Natural Little Pork Sausages

On a regular basis I purchase and eat various brands of frozen sausage links. Two of the brands that I purchase most frequently are Banquet Brown ‘n Serve Original Sausage Links and Jones All Natural Little Pork Sausages. When I looked in my freezer recently and saw a box of each of these brands of sausage sitting there I thought that they would be good items to compare.

Texture / Consistency
While I definitely enjoy the texture or consistency offered by each of these brands of frozen sausage links, I think that the Jones sausage provides a chewier and more substantial mouth-feel than that offered by the Banquet sausage. That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy the texture of the Banquet sausage, because it is actually quite appealing. Quite frequently I like to heat just one Brown ‘n Serve sausage in a paper towel in the microwave oven then eat it in a piece of bread with some ketchup on top. The appealing texture of the sausage always stands out to me when I eat these mini-sandwiches.

Nutritional Facts
Banquet Brown ‘n Serve Sausages contain 180 calories with 140 calories from fat per three link serving. These sausages also contain 5 grams of saturated fat, 16 grams total fat, 0 grams trans fat,
30 mg of cholesterol, 410 mg of sodium, 2 grams total carbohydrates, 0 grams of dietary fiber, less than 1 gram of sugars and 7 grams of protein per three link serving.

Jones Dairy Farm All Natural Little Pork Sausages contain 260 calories with 220 calories from fat per three pan fried links serving. These sausages also contain 8 grams of saturated fat, 24 grams total fat, 0 grams trans fat, 50 mg of cholesterol, 460 mg of sodium, 0 grams total carbohydrates and 10 grams of protein per three pan fried links serving.

Taste / Flavor
If you enjoy eating sausage links chances are good that you would enjoy the flavors offered by both the Banquet Brown ‘n Serve sausages and the Jones sausage links. Each brand features a mellow yet satisfying flavor that makes them great items to eat at breakfast, lunch or dinner.

On a flavor scale of one through ten I would assign Banquet Brown ‘n Serve Original Sausage Links a rating of 9.15.

On a flavor scale of one through ten I would assign Jones Dairy Farm All Natural Little Pork Sausages a rating of 9.25.

Packaging
Each of these brands of sausage is packaged in a cardboard box that opens easily and each box lists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information. The Banquet Brown ‘n Serve sausages box features a largely yellow and red design with an illustration of some of the links in the foreground.

The Jones sausages box is mostly white with the green-bordered Jones farmhouse logo and an illustration of some of the links on the front label.

Overall Rating
As with many other products it’s very difficult to flatly declare one of these brands of sausage as being the all-around better of the two. Each brand is actually pretty excellent.

The Jones sausage tastes a little mellower to me but each brand offers a pleasant and somewhat understated flavor that makes them great items to eat at any time of the day or night.

Because they’re both such good products, I cheerfully recommend both products.
