When you close your eyes, do you still see those colorful candies and imagine that you are mixing and matching them? When you see a group people, do you feel the urge to group them in matching colors and hope that they will pop?
If you answered yes to one or both questions, I bet you have been playing Candy Crush Saga in the past 24 hours. So what are the seven things we can learn about life in playing Candy Crush Saga?
1. When you failed, you become wiser the next time.
The first time that you failed to complete a level in Candy Crush, didn’t you feel a little devastated? I did. I wondered how I will surpass that hard level. In this fast phase life, we had learned to hate delays and inconveniences. And when we experienced a failure, we program our minds not to commit the same mistake again. So the next time you’re in trouble, ask yourself with this Brian Tracy question, “How do I get out of this and how fast?”
2. When you’re under time pressure, you focus on what’s important.
When you’re under time pressure, you care less about the matches which have lesser value but focus on candies that can multiply your scores almost exponentially instead. That’s life. While we were young, we wanted to have a taste of everything. But when you’re at the brink of your life, you’ll look back and realize the time you have wasted pleasing other people and doing things that didn’t really matter. Most of all, we tend to search for things that can truly makes us happy and excited to be at the next level of our life.
3. When you have run out of game life, you either rest or ask for help.
We’re not machines that can work continuously with very minimal reboot time. When you reach the maximum level of your energy, you, too, have to rest and recharge. Or better yet, be humble enough to ask for somebody to help you move on to the next level. Just remember the old saying, “Rest if you must, but you must never quit.”
4. When you did great, you get gifts – bigger candy treats!
Life is like a never – ending puzzle. You can experience problems and obstacles. However, when you get through them, life will give you these shout outs: Sweet! Divine! Wonderful! You may feel troubled right now but bear in mind, God is always ready to give you divinely sweet treats to make your life lot easier.
5. Whenever a friend sends a life or gift, you become extremely grateful.
When someone finally responded to your request, does your heart beats faster with excitement? Is it as if heaven suddenly sent you a real angel to give you a lifeline? At some point of our life, we unexpectedly receive gifts and we could not thank the giver enough.
6. When someone requested for your help, you become generous in just two clicks.
CCS Friend requests: just click “select all” then click “accept.” Wow! Now don’t you feel like a Good Samaritan? But admit it; sometimes you give to be able to receive something in return, don’t you? CCS is a revival of the concept of mutualism. In this generation, more people tend to become parasitic, one – sided. Candy Crush Saga teaches us to give and receive wholeheartedly. How was that?
7. When you have completed a level, there’s no other way but up.
We have to move on to the next level. That’s our goal, right? I bet you don’t want to be stuck whining at level 30 while your friends are passing by and waving goodbye at you. Sometimes, we are screwed up by problems, insecurities and inabilities. Sometimes, we just don’t want to go on living a miserable life. Don’t stop. You may not be the best or highest scorer yet, but there’s always a chance to reach life’s sweet success.
Life is good. Sometimes we stumble, we cry, we try to give up but we must rest and give ourselves a time to recharge. We could also learn to humble ourselves that we need other people to survive and be revived. And all those time, effort and sleepless nights reaching for your life’s goals will all be worth it.
Candy Crush Saga may seem to be a simple game but full – packed with life’s lessons. Do you agree? How about you? What lesson did you learn in playing Candy Crush Saga?
