Halloween treat sacks are available in stores that sell related goodies, costumes and decor. Some are cute, but most are not very impressive. Give the kids something that will knock their socks off this year. Whether you provide treats for a class or pass them out to trick-or-treaters, consider six unique and easy ways to decorate plain plastic or paper candy bags. You can provide little goblins, ghouls, clowns and princesses with a mixture of goodies in ready-made decorative packs.
Fill a Latex Glove with Wrapped Treats
If you want to give out frighteningly good treats, do not use paper or plastic bags. Do something unique instead. Buy a box of latex gloves, and fill them with wrapped treats including gumball eyes, wax fangs and other ghoulish goodies. Tie the tops with red curling ribbon. They are sure to be different than all of the rest.
Turn a Halloween Cup into a Goody Bag
A paper or plastic Halloween cup can be used to create a unique goodie bag. Place wrapped candy inside of the cup, and place it inside of a clear cellophane bag. Use black and orange curling ribbon to secure the top. Consider putting together dozens. They can be dropped into trick-or-treat bags, or they can be used as party favors.
Use Washi Tape to Decorate Small Paper Candy Bags
Small paper bags can be used to hold Halloween candy. Before adding the treats, decorate the sacks with Washi tape. It can be found in discount store craft departments, in major craft stores and online. It has the feel of masking tape, but it is intended for decorative purposes. Neatly fold down the tops of the candy bags, and use a single piece of Washi tape to secure each one. It is much safer than staples, and it looks better than other types of tape.
Apply Holographic Stickers to Clear Plastic Sacks
Stickers have been collected and saved by kids and adults for decades, but they are good for more than just scrapbooks. When looking for unique ways to decorate Halloween candy sacks, consider using holographic stickers. Buy plastic or paper bags, and apply three or four eye-catching stickers to each one. If they are plastic, tie the tops with orange and black curling ribbon. If they are paper, use large stickers to secure the folded tops.
Easy Orange Pumpkin Goody Bags
Carving pumpkins is a lot of work, but decorating candy bags to look like pumpkins is a whole lot of fun. Buy small orange paper sacks, and decorate each one with black construction paper cutouts. Create an array of eyes, noses and mouths, and have fun using them to decorate the bags. After they are filled with wrapped candy, twist the tops before wrapping them with green duct tape. The tops will look like stems, and the filled sacks will look like carved pumpkins.
Fill and Wrap Mini Caldrons with Halloween Candy
For something really cute and clever, buy small plastic witches caldrons, clear plastic goody bags and orange and black curling ribbon. Fill the caldrons with wrapped candy before placing them in the sacks. For something really unique and impressive, add a flickering battery-operated tea light candle before adding the candy. Twist and secure the tops with curling ribbon. The plastic containers and optional candles can be saved and played with or reused long after the treats are gone.
