Sometimes, a beautiful thing for yourself or your home is made without any money – or very little cash. For instance, when you purchase inexpensive chalkboard sticky paper, you can make a chalkboard from a picture frame, a wall section, or another place in your home. Another example is one of the many teacup crafts. Set a cup on a saucer and fill it with an air plant to make a nice accent for your kitchen. But if you’re looking for something very pretty – to wear or to display in your house – finish that soda that you’re drinking. The bottle makes a beautiful flower that can be worn as a corsage, used as a curtain tie-back, or even worn as a necklace.
If you look at the bottom of a soda bottle you’ll notice how it has the shape of a flower. That means you can cut the bottom off and embellish it to wear or display it. Pierce the side of the bottle, way down near the bottom. Cut the bottle bottom off with sharp scissors. It’s important that it be even all the way around.
For some reason, when you paint the soda bottle flower, it looks so much better when the paint is on the inside, rather than the outside of the bottle. Paint the inside once, allow it to dry, and paint it again (painting optional). Glue a silk flower, tinsel, or pom-poms, to the center of the flower, on the outside of the bottle. With that, the flower is finished. However, you can do the necessary things to turn it into a curtain tie-back, corsage, or other item.
Turn the plastic into the piece that you want by what you do next. Poke a hole on each side of the flower, put a large jump ring into each hole, and squeeze it shut. Use the rings to attach ribbons for tying around a curtain. To make a necklace, pierce a hole through just one of the flower petals. Put in a chain or a cord. To turn the plastic flower into a corsage, glue a pin backing to the center of the bottle bottom, on the inside. Poke a hole in one petal, feed a string through it, attach a suction cup to a window, and hang the flower on it. Hang several of the sun catchers to add sparkling light to a window.
Put the plastic flower on a lamp, a mirror corner, a picture frame corner, a wicker or wire basket, or another object in your house. The flower is very pretty and doesn’t look anything like a soda bottle. That’s good because you don’t want friends to accuse you of wearing soda bottles!
