Sookie Can Bite the Dust

by fat vox

I love HBO, as a cable station, I love their sitcoms and original series. HBO is always in the forefront of quality television. When True Blood came out with season one, I was instantly hooked. That show made me an HBO lover, looking forward to new shows that would emerge from them. As the first season of True Blood ended, I couldn’t get enough. I sought out the books that the show was based on, and to my surprise I became hooked on the books as well. The show and the books started out as a beautiful marriage, that slowly have drifted apart. After twelve books, and five seasons I think True Blood needs to be cancelled after its sixth seasons.

True Blood is a television show based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. As a New York Times best selling author, this novel series is very sexy, adventurous, and captivating. The story progresses in a way where you start rooting for certain characters, but never losing focus of the main character Sookie Stackhouse, who can’t seem to stay out of trouble. With many supernatural creatures this series has readers longing to find out what happens next. It was an easy decision to see why when True Blood hit television it became an instant hit.

Yet, after the first three seasons, the tv show and the novels went in two different directions. Now, the show is supposed to be based on the books, so as a reader of the books I was not happy to see which direction the show had gone it. It made me not want to watch it, but being a real True Blood fan, and a lover of the novels I held out hope that maybe, True Blood would make the books come to life. The books stopped coming to life and the show took the life of its own. By merging different books together and changing an amazing story line I am unsure about watching the up coming season. Game of Thrones, another tv series based on the books, is a prime example of sticking to the books. From people whom I have spoken about Game of Thrones. It is an amazing series as a tv show, and keeps me glued to the tv every Sunday night.

Even though I love True Blood , if feel it is time for it to be cancelled. Ms. Harris is done writing the series, and the final book just came out. I love the series and hoped that the tv show would do it justice, sadly the books and the show went in two very different directions. Not saying that is a bad thing, but when you sell a show to viewers that is based on the books. Your viewers might actually expect that to be true. When you lose loyal fan support, you have a show that is taking up air time. I urge the director to take the show back in the direction of the books before they lose viewership.
