Southeastern Flower Show and Antiques in Atlanta

by fat vox

The 2013 Southeastern Flower Show and Antiques event in Atlanta on March 15-17 holds some surprises and bonuses for men and women alike this year during the 25th anniversary celebration according to the Southeastern Horticultural Society.

The annual 3-day horticultural event typically serves as the central location for those who wish to be recognized for judged divisions in artistic design, discovery, horticulture, landscape, as well as youth and photography. In addition to playing host to these garden and floral design judged divisions; however, the Cobb Galleria event also offers garden-related shopping, a showcase for antiques and even a separate book store area, as well as private lectures from recognized experts on a variety of topics.

For example, the award-winning wedding event planner Tara Guerard will help kick off the festivities by giving a private lecture during the event on March 15 at 12:00 p.m., in Room 103. The topic of course will be “Weddings,” which is both the name of her newest book as well as her claim to fame, since she is considered a leading event designer in the southeast.

The lecture schedule includes Guerard’s Wedding lecture on Friday at noon, followed on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. by author Peter Hatch, who will be lecturing on Thomas Jefferson’s Revolutionary Garden before participating in a book signing for his “A Rich Spot of Earth.”

Two hours later, at 1:00 p.m., also in Room 103 in the Cobb Galleria on Saturday, landscape architect Ben Page will be lecturing on “Tradition to Transition.”

Advance ticket sales for the flower show as well as the lecture events can be purchased through March 14. Tickets are available to accommodate one-day attendees ($18. per person, based on adult age); one-day attendees interested in the flower show and the lecture that day ($28. per person), as well as a three-day event attendee ticket price ($45. per person).

Ticket pricing is $18.00 per person, per day, for adults; $17.00 for seniors over 65, or college students with ID. And children in grades 1-12 pay only $9.00 per day for show admittance; Kindergarten and younger are admitted for free.

Group rates are available for parties of 15 or more at $17.00 each for daily admittance to the flower show. And those willing to show up after 4 p.m. can enjoy Twilight ticket pricing of $16.00 per person.

An unlimited, all-access ticket price of $45.00 ensures admittance for all three days of the show, regardless of age. (forward slash P) (P)

Update 3/24/14

This year’s SHS Horticultural Society premier gardening event will exclude the word “flower” from the title because there will not be a juried competition. Instead, the annual event is being billed as the Southeastern Horticultural Society’s 2014 Garden Show. But don’t worry, as there will still be plant speakers, floral displays from local garden club members, and designed gardens to view.

The 2014 Garden Show will also include a photography exhibition, tool and equipment demonstrations, chefs featured on site, and shopping opportunities as well as children activities that include laying hens and live goats.

This year’s event will be held from April 25-27 at the Buckhead Theatre, pushing it back almost a month later than last year’s Cobb Galleria located event. This will ensure a greater crowd most likely, as more people will be ready to take those Spring garden show tours by then for sure.

To made advance online ticket purchases for the 2014 Garden Show visit sehort.org today. Doors open all three days at 10:00 a.m. and close daily at 6:00 p.m.
